Cloud Native Qumulo (CNQ) is a scalable, high-performance file storage solution for AWS, optimized for unstructured data. With multi-protocol support (NFS, SMB, S3 API), seamless Active Directory integration, and cost-efficient S3-backed storage, CNQ offers both hot and cold storage modes with usage-based pricing for capacity, throughput, and IOPS-metered per minute. Ideal for media, healthcare, and seismic data workloads, CNQ enables flexible cloud-native file storage with no upfront costs.
Modern enterprises rely on high-performance file storage, but traditional on-premises solutions are costly, rigid, and difficult to scale. Cloud alternatives often lack critical enterprise features, forcing compromises on performance, scalability, or cost.
Cloud Native Qumulo (CNQ) is a fully cloud-native file data platform, purpose-built for unstructured data workloads in AWS. CNQ delivers scalable, multi-protocol file storage with enterprise-grade performance, backed by cost-efficient Amazon S3 storage. Ideal for media & entertainment, life sciences, healthcare, and energy workloads, CNQ enables flexible cloud-native file storage without hardware dependencies.

CNQ offers two distinct operating modes to match workload needs:
Hot Mode: Backed by S3-Standard or S3-Intelligent Tiering for low-latency workloads (e.g., video editing, AI/ML, seismic analysis).
Cold Mode: Optimized for cost-effective storage using colder S3 tiers, ideal for archives and secondary data.
Customers can deploy multiple clusters in either hot or cold mode1, with prepay consumption pricing.
Usage-Based Pricing Model
Optimize storage costs with a CNQ prepay commitment that is consumed via minute-by-minute metering based on:
Data Stored on System: Billed per TB-month.
Throughput & IOPS Consumption: Most customers stay comfortably within the included 5 GB/s and 50,000 IOPS, with no additional charge. If your workload pushes beyond those thresholds, a modest fee applies based on actual usage per-minute (not provisioned capacity), ensuring cost efficiency.
Cloud Data Fabric Usage: Charges apply for data exported via the Qumulo Cloud Data Fabric, with distinct pricing for hot and cold storage modes.
Key Features & Benefits
High-Performance File Storage in AWS: Powered by NVMe caching, predictive read-ahead, and scalable performance for demanding workloads.
Multi-Protocol Enterprise Compatibility: Full support for NFSv3, NFSv4.1, SMBv2, SMBv3, S3-Compatible API, FTP, and HTTP REST API.
Seamless Identity & Security Integration: Works with Active Directory, identity mapping, cross-protocol permission enforcement, quotas, snapshots, and compliance-grade audit logging.
Elastic Scaling: Scale instance count up and down dynamically while keeping data persistently stored on cost-efficient S3 storage classes.
Multi-AZ & Hybrid Cloud Capabilities: Supports regional redundancy, replication across AWS regions, and hybrid data movement with Qumulo Cloud Data Fabric.
Simple, Automated Deployment
CNQ deploys automatically via Qumulo Nexus, provisioning a cluster in your AWS account in minutes. Customers can start with no upfront commitment and only pay for what they use, ensuring full flexibility in cloud storage consumption.
For organizations looking to modernize their file-based workflows in AWS, Cloud Native Qumulo delivers unmatched scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
1While this product is listed as SaaS, CNQ deploys EC2 instances and S3 storage within the customer's AWS account, ensuring full customer control over infrastructure. Qumulo Nexus, the control plane, operates as a SaaS managed by Qumulo. Customers are responsible for all AWS infrastructure costs incurred in their account.
Highlights
High-Performance File Storage for AWS: Unlock rapid read-write speeds and ultra-low latency with direct-attached NVMe caching. Scale instance counts on demand while data resides on cost-efficient Amazon S3. Ideal for media production, seismic analysis, and healthcare imaging.
Flexible Hot & Cold Modes: Choose high-performance "hot" storage for active workloads or cost-optimized "cold" storage for archival needs. Seamlessly deploy multiple clusters with multi-protocol support (NFS, SMB, S3, FTP, REST) and enterprise-grade security features.
Transparent Usage-Based Pricing: Pay only for what you use - capacity is billed per TB-month, with throughput and IOPS metered per minute. Eliminate overprovisioning costs and take advantage of Qumulo Cloud Data Fabric for hybrid and multi-region data access.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.

You buy prepaid credits and draw them down as you use the service. The Prepaid Credit and Prepaid Credit Reload dimensions add funds to your balance. Usage then bills against those credits across several independent dimensions. You pay for stored data per TB-month, split between Hot and Cold clusters. Performance bills separately: IOPS above 50,000 and throughput above 5GB/s. Cloud Data Fabric charges for data exported from Hot or Cold clusters per TB-month. Instant Backup bills per TB-month by cluster type. Edge SoHo and Edge RoBo devices bill per device each month. Each dimension scales independently with your usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
How do IOPS and throughput charges apply, since they list thresholds of 50,000 IOPS and 5GB/s?
You are billed only for performance above those baselines. IOPS charges apply per 1,000 IOPS per minute measured over 50,000. Throughput charges apply per GB/s per minute measured over 5GB/s. Usage below those thresholds does not trigger these two charges. Both meter in one-minute intervals.
What is the difference between Hot Cluster and Cold Cluster storage charges?
Both bill per TB-month, but they map to different underlying object storage tiers. You choose a tier based on how often you access the data. Hot clusters suit frequently accessed, performance-driven workloads. Cold clusters suit archival or rarely accessed data. Storage, Cloud Data Fabric export, and Instant Backup each carry separate Hot and Cold rates.
How do the prepaid credits work with all the usage dimensions?
You load funds using Prepaid Credit or Prepaid Credit Reload, each priced as one US dollar of credit. Usage across storage, performance, Cloud Data Fabric, Instant Backup, and Edge devices then draws down that balance. All dimensions bill independently against the same pool, so your total depends on combined usage.
