You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run this preconfigured image on. Pricing scales with instance capacity, not by features. The eight options cover general-purpose instances (t3.large, t3.xlarge, m5.large, m5.xlarge, m6i.large, m6i.xlarge) and memory-optimized instances (r5.large, r6i.large). Larger instance types like the xlarge sizes carry more compute and memory than the large sizes. You choose one instance type per deployment. There is no long-term commitment; you are charged only while the instance runs. If it is stopped, no software charge applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I run this hourly image on an instance like m5.large?
You get a preconfigured Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.9 machine image running on the EC2 instance type you pick. One instance runs on one virtual machine. Larger types like m5.xlarge give more vCPU and memory than large types. You pay for the running instance-hours of that one machine.
Do I pay the software charge when the instance is stopped?
No. Charges apply only while the instance runs. If the image is not running, there is no software charge, and there is no long-term commitment. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees from Amazon may still apply while the instance is stopped, but the software meters running time only.
Does moving to a larger instance type change my rate, or do charges stack?
You run one instance type per deployment, so charges do not stack across types. Moving from a large to an xlarge size means you pay that size's hourly rate instead. The rate scales with instance capacity, not with any added feature set. Switching sizes is a manual choice you make at deployment.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

2.2. For Linux/macOS Users (Terminal) ssh -i /path/to/your-key.pem ec2-user@<EC2_Public_IP> - Replace /path/to/your-key.pem with your key path - Replace <EC2_Public_IP> with your EC2 public IP - Set correct permissions if needed: chmod 400 /path/to/your-key.pem
2.3. For Windows Users (Using PuTTY) - Convert .pem to .ppk using PuTTYgen - In PuTTY: Host Name: ec2-user@<EC2_Public_IP> Port: 22 Load your .ppk key under Connection - SSH - Auth.
You will then be able to change user using the below commands; sudo su - For more information on accessing instances using an SSH client please refer to our blog post featured below: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AccessingInstancesLinux.html This solution does contains AWS Cloud watch agent and AWS CLI v2.0.
