Protex AI Transformed Our Enterprise Safety Culture with Proactive Data
What do you like best about the product?
Working with Protex AI has been the best vendor interaction I've had in my 12-year career at 3M. It has fundamentally transformed how we approach safety, shifting us from a reactive, after-the-fact process to a proactive, data-driven system. Instead of waiting for incidents to occur and then investigating, Protex uses AI-powered analysis of our existing CCTV infrastructure to identify risks in real time. That shift alone has been a game changer for both our safety outcomes and our culture.
From a product standpoint, the platform is exceptionally well executed. Onboarding new sites, including camera integration and rule configuration, is remarkably intuitive, and we have experienced virtually no bugs. I want to emphasize this, as the maturity of their platform is vastly superior to other companies at their stage. The core interface, from dashboards to event review and investigation tools, is clean, fast, and designed in a way that both safety professionals and operations teams can immediately adopt without friction.
I'd also like to highlight Protex Intelligence. It's hard to fully describe the power of this analytics tool. At a high level, we can monitor trends and overall plant performance, but the real value comes from the interactive, investigative capabilities.
For example, we automatically generate weekly executive-level summaries that highlight key safety risks across all facilities, allowing actionable response from our leadership. At a more granular level, our engineering teams use Intelligence to dig into specific problems. In one case, an ergonomics engineer compared work centers across multiple plants, identified best practices from top-performing areas, and applied those learnings to improve underperforming locations. That kind of cross-site insight simply was not possible before.
Beyond the technology, the Protex team is world-class. From initial pilots through full enterprise deployment, they have been outstanding partners, responsive, knowledgeable, and invested in our success. I'd like to specifically callout their technical team, that consistently engages with our real-world challenges and delivers innovative solutions that continue to improve over time.
Overall, I'm impressed every time I interact with the Protex product or the Protex team.

What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest challenge in our enterprise deployment of Protex has been the inconsistent adoption within our internal sites. The system provides unique, fantastic data around the safety risks around our facilities and even helps drive actionable insights from that data. However, our facilities are ultimately responsible for reducing at-risk events and driving safety improvements. Some do this very well, others are slower. If a site isn't motivated to improve their safety culture, Protex can only do so much to help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In 2024, 3M launched "Journey to Zero", a comprehensive safety initiative drive injuries, fires, and spills to zero through an enhanced safety culture. It focuses on protecting workers, fostering accountability, and using innovative technologies to ensure employees return home safely.
Protex is a key technology platform in this initiative. The technology provides actionable data about the safety behaviors in our manufacturing facilities before they become more serious incidents. Across all deployed locations, at-risk event rates have dropped by an extraordinary 82% since system go-live. This also translates to a reduction in resulting injuries. Sites using Protex AI saw a 70% reduction in ergonomic injuries compared to their baseline. At the end of 2025, Protex was deployed in 12 sites globally with a target of 50 by the end of 2027.
Outside of the safety world, we are also piloting Protex to help address process inefficiencies in the operations world. We hope to measure and react to key events within our manufacturing facilities to reduce startup/changeover waste as well as process upset-induced downtime.

Protex AI: Revolutionizing Workplace Safety with Proactive Insights
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy using Protex AI because there's not much additional hardware needed since we can leverage existing security cameras. The dashboard is really helpful as it provides different features and abilities, like using heat map or thermal views, which allow us to pinpoint areas with increased risk. There's also a map that shows intersections between powered industrial trucks and pedestrians, which helps us identify risk areas that may need more than just coaching. Another feature I appreciate is the AI capability similar to a chatbot, which allows different users to customize reports to their needs using AI insights, making it easy to gather meaningful reports. The initial setup was great and proved feasibility, opening up opportunities for injury reduction. The team at Protex is quick to respond, innovative, and shares a people-first philosophy with us, focusing on keeping everyone safe.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that's been slightly complicated is the camera selection process once a site is detected. Going through the camera views can be time-consuming, especially if one work area has 100 to 300 camera views. We have to select a fraction or percentage of those cameras to be cost-effective for Protex's program, which is very time-consuming. This makes a broad rollout to multiple sites less feasible since identifying cameras at the initial pilot sites was already difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protex AI increases visibility into workplace behaviors using existing security cameras, serving as leading indicators to enhance safety when managers aren't present.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Protex. One additional opportunity would be strengthening the ergonomics capabilities within Protex. While Protex AI provides valuable visibility into ergonomic risk factors, we’re still experiencing a high volume of false alerts in this area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protex is helping us close a critical gap in our safety program.
While we were conducting safety observations, they were manual and inherently limited in scope and consistency.
Protex strengthens our program by delivering 24/7 continuous visibility across our operations, along with data-driven insights, measurable reporting, and early identification of risk patterns before incidents occur.
It doesn’t replace our safety culture — it enhances it by making our safety observations scalable, consistent, and proactive.

Great way to start your journey using AI to enhance your safety technology toolbox
What do you like best about the product?
Protex AI is a state-of-the-art system that is useful to identify unsafe behaviors and risky conditions. Its safety alarms could help to identify, on a timely basis, the safety challenges of your sites. Finally, Protex continues to develop interesting innovations, such as Copilot and Predictive Analytics features.
What do you dislike about the product?
You just must be aware that the system requires the installation of an on-site server at the workplace location. This requires the help of your local IT team to fine-tune the equipment, and that could be a challenge.
