Efficient for Event Tracking, but Complexity Can Be Challenging

  • December 22, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use PostHog for tracking events inside my mobile app, and it feels better than Google Analytics, which I used before. I appreciate that it doesn't feel as trashy as Google Analytics did. I like how straightforward the initial setup was.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel it's a bit too complicated. Or at least, like, I don't know how to make sense out of the data that I'm getting in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for tracking events in my mobile app. It feels better than Google Analytics and doesn't feel as trash.

Fast, Open Source, with Room for Doc Improvements

  • December 20, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use PostHog for analyzing user behavior, collecting metrics, and seeing how many users use our site. I really like how easy it is to create dashboards, like funnels, and how everything is stored with a fast queryable database. The website design is amazing, and it's actually fast, so I don't have to wait 2 seconds for a page to load like with other big company pages. The documentation is quite good, and the fact that PostHog is open source is very, very important to me. Initial setup was also 10/10 easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some small docs improvements, like the /docs/data/events page is a bit sparse. We create all the PostHog events server side, I feel like the docs on that part are a bit sparse. Maybe also more focus on tracing, can I store an ID in my db that corresponds with an event in PostHog?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for analyzing user behavior and collecting metrics. It solves creating dashboards easily, storing everything efficiently, and provides a fast, queryable database.

Fast Setup, Comprehensive Analytics with Minor UI Clutter

  • December 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that PostHog is super fast to use and I could branch it to our project in less than two days. The initial setup was super simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think we could see a little bit less of cluttering. I'd like to be able to customize the sidebars and collapse them. But aside from that, it's working well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for monitoring user interactions and launching features, which helps catch anomalous events and provides analytics. It also streamlines platform integration, branching to our project in less than two days.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its really easy to setup, the AI setup wizard is impressive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dashboard UX is a bit clunky, I spend a bit of time trying to figure out “insights” to track events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use this for tracking product usage.

Cost-Effective and Feature-Rich, Needs Better Documentation

  • December 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like PostHog's competitive pricing features. As a bootstrapped startup, this is especially valuable for me because it allows starting at zero and expecting to grow, which is a fantastic idea.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the concept of supporting server-side rendered applications combined with JavaScript could be a little clearer. The docs are good, but they're not great. We can have much better documentation, especially when referring to Python or Django applications. I think the mixing of the environments is not well supported. Also, the initial setup was easy, but it could have been easier with more clarity on the documentation side or clarity on what the docs are requiring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog to see customer navigation on my site and identify where they may get stuck. I also connect it to other data sources like Stripe for event correlation. The competitive pricing is great for my bootstrapped startup, allowing growth from zero.

Intuitive and Easy to Setup, But Needs Better Java Support

  • December 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the easy setup of PostHog, which is important when trying out experimental APIs. It's straightforward to see events coming into the console, making the process of getting started quite smooth. I also find the intuitive use beneficial, especially for features like session replay, which my team was seeking. The analytics and screen replay capabilities have been valuable, and I'm considering consolidating our current tools, including Firebase Analytics, to just use PostHog due to these features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the lack of Java support. I know everyone's using Kotlin, but I'm working with legacy code. I was able to find an implementation solution in the comment section, but maybe consider adding this to the doc for people working on old systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for analytics and screen replay. It was easy to set up, important for trying experimental APIs, and intuitive to see events in the console. I'm considering consolidating with Firebase Analytics due to its useful session replay feature.

Intuitive UI Makes Navigation Effortless

  • December 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI a lot, its intuitive and easy to find what i need.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside i notice is the local evaluation not really working all the time or properly, had some issues with it before. It could just be user error though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use it for managing feature flags across multiple services and repositories. The ability to enable or disable these flags as needed works smoothly, which is exactly what I need.

An Essential Tool for Clear and Easy Analysis

  • December 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that PostHog gives me clearer analytics than Google Analytics and is easier to install. I enjoy managing the dashboard views and the ability to generate them with AI, plus the session replays are indispensable for improving the quality of my application. I value the great free tier, the easy integration, and all the options and facilities that the platform provides. I am impressed that the AI installer in React works very well and that the AI in the platform helps a lot in creating insights and managing information that initially might seem unrelated. I also appreciate being able to quickly track identified user profiles, seeing all their events and errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there are many tabs that seem to refer to logs, and sometimes it can get confusing, or there is no check for errors that is an "ACTION REQUIRED" which could be used to trigger an alert.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog gives me clearer analytics than Google Analytics, it is easier to install and to add logs. I love managing dashboards and generating insights with AI. The recorded sessions are indispensable for improving the quality of my application.

Intuitive, All-in-One Analytics Solution

  • December 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use PostHog primarily for product analytics and also for LLM analytics and session recordings. I find it pretty easy to use and set up, and I appreciate that it's an all-in-one solution. The UX/UI is simple to understand, and whenever I'm stuck, its AI is very good at getting me back on track. The help docs are pretty good, though it's usually simpler to ask the AI. I like that it provides a single UI for many analytics-related tools. I've used it for product analytics, LLM analytics, and session recordings, but it can also handle web analytics, revenue analytics, heatmaps, and more. It serves as a data warehouse, providing a single point of access to all my data. I also enjoy their communication style as it's very casual, fun, and straight to the point, which makes using the app enjoyable. There are many tiny details that frequently make me say wow.
What do you dislike about the product?
The first times I tried to create my own charts, I had a hard time understanding what types of chart/analysis I should use. Luckily, its embedded AI helped me do it. But the naming of the buttons/UI elements did not make it intuitive. Additionally, when using the LLM analytics there were some costs differences between what was displayed in the UI and my calculations given OpenAI rates. Differences were small, but I wasn't able to conciliate them. Also, in LLM Analytics, you have to click each message to see its content. When checking long conversations, it's annoying to have to scroll down to click on the message, scroll up to see its content, scroll down to click the next message, scroll up to see its content, and so on. There should be a better way of visualizing the conversation. The LLM feature is new in PostHog, so hopefully they are still iterating on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use PostHog for product analytics, LLM analytics, and session recordings. Gaining access to data that helps me understand user interactions. It's an all-in-one solution with a single UI for various analytics-related tools, making data management straightforward.

Actionable Insights Made Easy with PostHog

  • December 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PostHog makes it remarkably simple to gain a clear understanding of real user behavior. The session replays and heatmaps offer vivid, visual insights into how users move through the product, allowing us to quickly spot friction points and usability challenges.

The platform is straightforward to implement and requires minimal effort to get started, which has made adoption across our team easy. I also value how effortlessly it tracks user interactions including clicks, page views, form submissions, and custom events all within a single platform.

Thanks to its extensive features and intuitive workflows, we rely on PostHog regularly for both everyday monitoring and more in depth analysis. This powerful blend of usability, comprehensive features, and both qualitative and quantitative insights enables us to make product decisions that are more data driven and actionable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, especially when exploring some of the more advanced features. However, once you get familiar with the platform, it becomes much easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PostHog solves the challenge of understanding how users actually interact with the product, beyond just high-level metrics. Before using PostHog, it was difficult to identify where users were dropping off, what features they struggled with, and which interactions truly mattered. With session replays, heatmaps, and detailed event tracking, we can easily spot friction points, usability issues, and unexpected behavior.

By bringing product analytics, user behavior visualization, and event tracking into a single platform, PostHog eliminates the need for multiple tools and reduces guesswork. This helps us validate assumptions faster, prioritize improvements with confidence, and make more informed, data-driven product decisions that directly improve user experience and engagement.
