Custom React Components Unlock Creative, High-Impact Docs UX

    Reviewed on Jun 17, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Custom React components are by far the best part about Mintlify. We've been able to take the user experience of docs and, with Claude Code, create custom React components such as a notification centre, user quizzes, a video carousel, and more. If your team is agile and your systems are in place, you can unlock plenty of creative UX enhancements to the docs experience with a tool like Mintlify.
What do you dislike about the product?
Search doesn't yet support variables. Given that variables and snippets are out-of-the-box features, it's disappointing to then have to use string literals for headers.
Additionally, variables don't resolve correctly on any page that a user subscribes to with their RSS feed. For reusable content to be a first-class feature, these issues need to be resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving to Mintlify has meant much less backend maintenance versus when we wanted to make UX improvements in MkDocs.
The integration with GitHub is seamless and the preview builds make sharing in-progress work with our stakeholders for review a native part of our content lifecycle.

Great Developer Experience, But Web Editor Needs Work

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Mintlify provides a clean interface for developer experience on our partner-facing products. Its ability to automatically manage documentation is something I appreciate because it removes the possibility of drift from our products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their web editor is horrible. They just released a new version and its trash. Lost all the configurability and controls it used to have.

More Functionality for Docs-as-Code, Plus Great Support

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can still use my docs as code system that I'm used to, but with more functionality. I like using the command line to view docs locally before I create a PR. Price is reasonable and support is very good.
What do you dislike about the product?
docs.json is a little cumbersome to use, but there is also the option of using the Mintlify editor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The docs are better organized now, and I particularly like the top tabs to focus on one set of docs. AI features are great because customer would rather ask it a question rather than read through the docs.

    User-friendly and Developer-friendly docs

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It effectively bridges the gap between a user-friendly interface and a developer-friendly version control mechanism.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the preview would render faster and feel closer to real time, more like Notion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping non-technical content writer contribute to our docs-as-code platform.

Effortless Docs Migration and Maintenance That Just Works

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Mintlify made an initial docs site migration so effortless, and continues to make ongoing maintenance and deployments a breeze. This is the single most important factor for any docs site owner - it's not on the top of our mind every day, it's something that "just works", and Mintlify does that extremely well. The product's interface is easy to work with, and the tools they provide to facilitate ongoing work with the site save a massive amount of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to Mintlify is that we hadn't found it sooner. The docs platform space is fairly crowded, and if it wasn't for seeing Mintlify used on other software vendors' sites, I don't think we would have found them. Other than that, there isn't much to not like about them or their wonderful team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mintlify makes it real easy to build our moat of public information. Managing content with it is easy, and it doesn't take a lot of effort to teach others how to work with their interface or our docs app. The value that we get from Mintlify over our previous provider is tremendous, where we're actually saving money and getting more tools to manage our endpoint references and developer guides efficiently.

Overall great prodcuct! Want more and faster customer support

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. I like the code snippets I can copy and use, for example, the accordion example. I like that it connects to GitHub. It has a lot of features that other platforms don't have, such as the option for both a local and a live preview of the docs, and an AI search bar. I like that the company continuously adds more features. I like that you listen to customers and are open for feature requests. I like that usually the deployment is pretty quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
    1. Recently I've had to manually deploy a few times- meaning that the docs didn't deploy or create a live preview link after I pushed to GitHub. When it works, it's quick, but every so often it doesn't work.

    2. A lot of the instructions/docs aren't so clear and can be improved. For example, when I was first onboarding and setting up my openAPI files, I had trouble understanding how to set it up and needed to contact support to figure it out. Another area that can be improved is translations- the workflow with General Translations can be very confusing and I would love a guide on how it works. However, in general, I did notice recently that the documentation has been improved. Please keep it up!

    3. There isn't enough customer support. Support can take a day to get back to me, and then weeks to figure out an issue that I have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to use readme.io, and it felt really outdated. Mintlify, on the other hand, feels much more up to date and includes the core documentation features that tech writers need, plus additional capabilities beyond the basics.

High Customization and Ease of Use with Mintlify

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I use Mintlify to document our open-source Design System, and the migration has been great so far. One of the top reasons we picked Mintlify is how flexible it is with layouts and styling, allowing us complete freedom to design custom pages, which is very useful for landing pages. The customization object in the docs.json simplifies this by letting us target specific sections of the layout. Having AI tools ready to use right away really changes the game. I appreciate the workflows and tools that make documentation self-maintained, keeping the component pages updated with the latest changes. The initial setup was really easy, and being able to run the documentation in the local development environment makes a huge difference. I'm really happy to have discovered Mintlify and would definitely rate it a 10, maybe even an 11.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe adding more components could help, even though Mintlify already offers plenty, like Callouts, Cards, and so on. One thing that could be added is a Code Live Preview. We've built our own, but having one ready-made from Mintlify, that fits nicely with the theme layout and also keeps the showcased code/component isolated would be awesome. Being able to design my own Mintlify theme from the ground up instead of having to choose a predefined one and customise from there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mintlify offers flexible layouts with customizable themes and AI tools, making it easy to maintain and update documentation. It's especially useful for keeping component pages current, saving time on documentation processes and customization.

Beautiful and Easy to Use, but AI Credits Limit Mintlify’s Full Value

    Reviewed on Jun 02, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It’s incredibly easy to use, with a beautiful out-of-the-box design. The MCP server is especially useful, and I really appreciate how reliable the Git synchronization is. I’ve been able to keep my old workflow for the most part, which is a big plus and a real differentiator compared to other vendors.
What do you dislike about the product?
AI credits are easily the worst part about Mintlify. They really do not go far, even for mid-sized organizations. It’s too bad, because we’re not able to take full advantage of all the platform’s features without paying additional money. I do think this affects Mintlify’s value proposition, as its features, even when paying Enterprise pricing, are locked behind a paywall.

A minor thing, too, is I wish there were more detailed logs when the build on the Mintlify dashboard fails.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mintlify is helping us serve AI-native documentation. Our documentation is now accessible via MCP, and has a on-site chatbot (although the chatbot is affected by credit limitations). Our documentation is also beautiful and easily modified via CSS however I like. Our APIs are much clearer and more interactive now.

What do you like best about the product?
I find Mintlify highly customizable, which allows me to get my company's branding 100% accurate. It's also very easy to use, making the initial setup a breeze. The powerful AI agent integrations and automation save me hundreds of hours of manual work across numerous teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think they could expand the configuration to be even easier and customization branding should be more of a UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mintlify helps in maintaining, writing, automating, and customizing documentation. It accurately reflects our company's branding, and the AI and automation features save hundreds of hours of manual work across various teams.
