Snap on Using AWS to Support 250 Million Users

At this AWS re:Invent 2020 fireside chat, Jerry Hunter, Engineering SVP, talks about how AWS rapid innovation helps Snap create new experiences for mobile devices. Snap uses AWS to support its massive scale and rapid growth, reduce costs, and maintain a secure, reliable infrastructure.

Snap, Inc. uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support its massive scale and rapid growth, reduce costs, and maintain a secure, reliable infrastructure. In this fireside chat, Jerry Hunter, SVP of engineering for Snap, talks about how the rapid innovation of AWS helps the company create new experiences for mobile devices. Snap owns the Snapchat camera app, Spectacles camera sunglasses, and Bitmoji, a tool for creating personal emojis. The company migrated to AWS Graviton Processor-based Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances in only 1 week, which greatly reduced instance costs. By building on AWS services like Amazon EC2 and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Snap engineers can focus on new product development rather than managing infrastructure.
