    Dimensions summary

This listing carries no software charge — it is a free Community Edition meant for evaluation and testing. You pay only for the AWS EC2 instance you run it on. The pricing options are not tiers or feature levels. Instead, each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, billed per hour of use. You choose an instance size that fits your compute, memory, or storage needs, from small shared instances up to large memory- and compute-focused ones. Cost scales with the instance type you select and the hours you run it.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Each hourly rate maps to one specific AWS EC2 instance type, such as a small shared instance or a larger memory- or compute-focused one. You are billed per hour that instance runs. The software itself carries no charge, so the hourly figures reflect the underlying EC2 compute you choose.
The Community Edition software is free, so it adds no charge whether running or stopped. Hourly charges relate to the EC2 instance running time. A stopped instance does not accrue compute charges, though AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply.
The Community Edition carries the same free license and limits regardless of instance type. Larger instance types give more compute, memory, or storage for evaluation and testing. The edition itself caps at 20 cores, so choose an instance size within that limit.

Integrated high throughput, stable and reliable, monitoring and logging still need improvement

    Reviewed on Oct 31, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I love the integrated solution of InterSystems IRIS, which is ready to use out of the box, solving problems of data vectorization storage, data silos, and interoperability production. It has high throughput, strong concurrent writing capabilities, and the system is reliable and stable, making me feel more at ease at work and ensuring business continuity while reducing emergency workload. The consistency between data and business status is strong, which also reduces losses caused by business interruptions. The initial setup is relatively simple, but still requires professional knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the built-in monitoring panel of InterSystems IRIS insufficient, as the relevant information could be displayed in more detail. The log volume is large, the structure is inconsistent, and the retrieval cost is high. The initial setup still requires professional knowledge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the out-of-the-box integrated solution of InterSystems IRIS to solve problems in data vectorization storage, data silos, and interoperability production.

Powerful platform for data and application development

    Reviewed on Oct 29, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about InterSystems IRIS is that it combines the database and application development on the same platform. This makes things much easier when working on applications that handle a lot of data.

I also appreciate the performance and the integration options. I was able to work with the data and connect different parts of the application without needing too many extra tools.

For me, the biggest advantage is that IRIS is a mature platform with many capabilities already built in, so I don’t have to create everything from scratch. The UI and UX are solid—simple and efficient. The price is OK, and the support is good and helpful. The AI is also extremely useful for multiple use cases.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I don't like is that IRIS can take some time to get used to, especially for developers who are coming from more common technologies. Some concepts and tools are not very intuitive at first and the documentation can be a little hard to navigate sometimes.

I also think the development experience could be more modern in some areas. There are many powerful features, but it can take some time to understand the best way to use them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IRIS is useful for applications that need to handle large amounts of data while keeping the data and application logic closely aligned. It also supports integration between different systems, which can cut down on the amount of custom code and the number of extra services you need to maintain.

For me, the biggest advantage is having the database, development tools, and integration capabilities all in one platform. That combination makes it simpler to build and maintain applications without having to juggle a lot of separate technologies.

FAST, SECURE AND EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE

    Reviewed on Oct 09, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like that iris keeps all in one place like data storage integration and API's.

The security is built in and being able to use object script and SQL makes development more flexible and it performs very well on heavy load especially when dealing with healthcare data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is a bit difficult because it has a lot of features and can be difficult for a beginner to understand without a senior or trainer.
overall, it takes time to get comfortable
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has all in one place so no need to have different tools for database, integration and analytics

Straightforward Data Manipulation with Elegant SQL Joins

    Reviewed on Oct 06, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is how straightforward data manipulation is. I love using simple commands to open a database register, like %Open, or accessing records by index using IdxUserNameOpen. On top of that, writing implicit joins using the -> operator in SQL queries is hands down the most elegant way to query data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The license model is a bit complicated. It's not always simple to understand or accurately measure how licensing is consumed in real-world scenarios.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit I found in IRIS is that I don't need multiple databases anymore—one for caching, another for structured data, and a separate one for columnar values. Everything is handled in one single place.
