You pay by the hour for the AWS EC2 instance you choose to run this MySQL on Windows package. Pricing scales with instance size and family, not by feature set. The list spans burstable general-purpose types (t2, t3, t3a) sized from nano up to 2xlarge, plus fixed-performance general-purpose types (m6a, m7a, m7i, m7i-flex) reaching up to 48xlarge. Smaller instances suit light workloads; larger instances add more compute and memory. Software runs the same across all sizes. Your hourly charge combines the software rate and the underlying EC2 rate, billed through your AWS account.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Every instance runs the same stack: the MySQL Database Server, MySQL connectors for common languages, and a database management workbench. It also includes a web server, a web-based admin tool, and a scripting runtime. The instance size you pick changes compute and memory, not the software included.
Software and EC2 hourly rates meter running time only. A stopped instance stops accruing these hourly charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance sits stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
Your hourly rate adds two parts: the software license fee for this package and the underlying EC2 compute rate for the instance family and size you select. Both add together per running hour. Larger instance types raise both parts. Everything appears on your AWS account invoice.
