What does the metered usage unit measure when I stream data through the platform?
Charges reflect actual platform consumption. This includes the volume of data streamed in and out, the amount of data stored in topics, and use of added services like managed connectors, stream processing, and schema management. Your bill tracks these consumption metrics rather than a fixed number of servers or seats.
What happens to my cost if usage goes beyond my committed amount during the term?
Once your consumption passes the amount you committed for the term, the overage dimension applies. The overage rate matches your chosen term length: 12, 24, or 36 months. You pay for the extra usage above your commitment at that overage rate, and it appears on your AWS bill.
Which consumption metrics tend to drive most of my bill on this platform?
Data volume streamed in and out usually drives high-throughput workloads. Storage charges grow when you retain large amounts of data in topics. Added services such as connectors and stream processing bill separately. All these metrics accrue at the same time and roll into your metered usage total.
