    GETTING STARTED

    Launch Process:

    1. Select this AMI from AWS Marketplace
    2. Choose instance type (t3.medium or larger recommended)
    3. Configure security group: ports 22, 80, 443
    4. Select SSH key pair
    5. Launch instance

    Access Your Site:

    1. Wait 2-3 minutes for automated first-boot configuration
    2. SSH: ssh -i your-key.pem ubuntu@instance-ip
    3. View credentials: cat ~/credentials.txt
    4. Access site: http://instance-ip 
    5. Access admin panel: http://instance-ip/wp-admin 

    RECOMMENDED INSTANCE TYPES

    SSL CONFIGURATION

    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND DEPENDENCIES

    • Minimum instance type: t3.small (2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM)
    • Minimum storage: 20 GB EBS volume recommended
    • An EC2 key pair is required for SSH access
    • A public IPv4 address or Elastic IP is required for site access
    • Ports 22, 80, and 443 must be allowed in the security group
    • This product uses EC2 IMDSv2 during first-boot initialization to retrieve instance information. No external packages are downloaded at launch. All software is pre-installed in the AMI.

    PRODUCT LIMITATIONS

    • Single-node deployment. High availability, load balancing, and auto scaling are not included by default
    • HTTPS is not pre-configured. Customers must install their own SSL certificate after launch
    • SMTP and outbound email are not pre-configured. Manual configuration required in WordPress admin panel under Settings
    • OS and application updates after launch are the responsibility of the customer
    • Static IP is not included. An Elastic IP is recommended for production use
    • Third-party plugins, themes, CDN, and backup services are not included

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    WHAT IS INCLUDED

    AUTOMATED FIRST-BOOT SYSTEM

    Each instance launch triggers a one-time initialization that:

    • Waits for MySQL to become fully ready
    • Retrieves instance metadata via IMDSv2
    • Falls back to private IP if no public IP is assigned
    • Creates a unique database user with a randomly generated password
    • Updates WordPress configuration with new database credentials
    • Updates site URL and home URL with instance public IP
    • Starts all services and waits for the site to respond
    • Creates unique administrator credentials
    • Writes all credentials to ~/credentials.txt (chmod 600)
    • Creates a lock file to prevent re-running on reboot

    SECURITY CONFIGURATION

    • PermitRootLogin: disabled
    • PasswordAuthentication: disabled
    • MySQL root: auth_socket
    • MySQL bind-address: 127.0.0.1

    CONNECTING TO YOUR INSTANCE

    After launching, wait 2-3 minutes for first-boot initialization to complete.

    Connect via SSH: ssh -i your-key.pem ubuntu@YOUR_PUBLIC_IP

    Retrieve your credentials: cat ~/credentials.txt

    This file contains your admin username, admin password, database user, and database password.

    ACCESSING THE SITE

    Open a browser and navigate to: http://YOUR_PUBLIC_IP

    Access the admin panel at: http://YOUR_PUBLIC_IP/wp-admin

    Sign in using the username and password from credentials.txt. Change your administrator password immediately after first login.

    SECURITY GROUP REQUIREMENTS

    The following ports must be open:

    • Port 22 (TCP) - SSH access
    • Port 80 (TCP) - Web access
    • Port 443 (TCP) - HTTPS after SSL setup

    For security, it is recommended to restrict port 22 to your own IP address only after launch.

    RECOMMENDED INSTANCE TYPES

    Testing and small sites: t3.small or t3.medium Medium sites: t3.large or t3.xlarge Large sites: t3.2xlarge or larger

    SSL AND DOMAIN SETUP

    1. Point your domain DNS A record to your instance public IP or Elastic IP
    2. Install Certbot: sudo apt install certbot python3-certbot-apache -y
    3. Run: sudo certbot --apache -d yourdomain.com
    4. HTTPS will be configured automatically

    DATABASE ACCESS

    MySQL root access (passwordless via socket): sudo mysql

    WordPress database credentials are available in ~/credentials.txt. Database name: wordpress

    CHECKING SERVICE STATUS

    RESTARTING SERVICES

    IMPORTANT NOTES

    • credentials.txt is stored at /home/ubuntu/credentials.txt and readable only by the ubuntu user
    • The first-boot script runs only once per instance. Rebooting will not regenerate credentials
    • Each launched instance receives unique credentials
    • Root SSH login is disabled. Always connect as the ubuntu user
    • Password-based SSH authentication is disabled. Key pair authentication is required
