The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the SUSE license bills only the hours the instance runs.
Each dimension ties the software rate to one specific instance type. Rates scale with instance size and capacity. Moving from a small instance to a compute-, memory-, or GPU-heavy type raises the hourly software rate. The change happens when you launch the new instance type; there is no automatic upgrade.

Usage instructions
Use the image to start an instance of your choice in Amazon EC2. Once the instance is running connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client as 'ec2-user' and the configured SSH key. The instance is connected to the SUSE update infrastructure to receive updates. Use the transactional-update command to update the system or install additional packages.
