What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Retool is that I can start on the free plan and learn the basics without much hassle. As a software developer, I find it straightforward to connect databases and APIs, then build admin panels or dashboards using the drag-and-drop components. The platform feels fast, and the UI is clean and user-friendly, so I don’t have to spend a lot of time figuring things out. Overall, it helps me build internal tools much more quickly and saves me the effort of writing everything from scratch.
What do you dislike about the product?
One drawback of Retool is that the free plan comes with certain limitations, so it may not be sufficient as a project grows or as additional features become necessary. Also, although the drag-and-drop editor is convenient, creating more complex workflows can sometimes require custom JavaScript, which adds extra development effort.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retool makes my work as a developer much easier because I don’t have to build every admin panel or dashboard from scratch. I can connect it directly to our databases and APIs, then quickly put together tools that help manage data and take care of day-to-day tasks. It saves me a lot of coding time and lets me deliver things faster, especially when the team just needs a straightforward internal tool without having to wait for a full development cycle.

What do you like best about the product?
It combines a visual, drag-and-drop component interface with backend query editors, enabling teams to build internal software in minutes rather than months.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the text-to-app AI features, Retool still requires technical ownership. Non-technical business users will hit a wall pretty quickly; building anything beyond basic UI structures requires a solid foundation in SQL, JavaScript, and data schemas. It also doesn’t feel like a fit for e-commerce or individual consumers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building a fully data-connected dashboard with tables, forms, and charts takes only a fraction of the time compared to traditional React development.

What do you like best about the product?
Retool significantly reduces the engineering overhead needed to build internal admin panels, operational tools, and diagnostics dashboards. Our main workflow pulls core CRM account data from Salesforce REST endpoints while also aggregating event logs and unstructured payload streams stored in AWS (S3, DynamoDB, and SQS queues). Retool connects smoothly to both REST APIs and cloud data resources with very little configuration. Its pre-built component library—especially editable tables, JSON tree viewers, key-value inspectors, and trigger buttons—lets us deliver a fully functional internal console in hours, rather than committing to multi-week full-stack engineering sprints.
What do you dislike about the product?
As applications grow to include interdependent JavaScript queries, complex temporary states, and a high number of components on a single canvas, the in-browser canvas editor can sometimes show noticeable responsiveness lag. In addition, more granular enterprise governance capabilities—such as automated multi-environment promotion pipelines, fine-grained role-based access control (RBAC), and comprehensive audit logging—are only available on higher-tier commercial plans.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It effectively bridges the gap between raw backend services and operational support teams. Instead of spending developer cycles building custom React admin frontends from scratch, our engineers can surface Salesforce CRM records alongside raw AWS cloud telemetry in a single, secure UI. As a result, we’ve seen substantially faster turnaround when building operational triage tools, and it has also helped reduce our Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) for integration sync failures across our pipelines.

What do you like best about the product?
Retool is great for the basics of building internal tools quickly. Connecting to our databases and APIs is straightforward, and the drag-and-drop components let me put together admin panels and dashboards in a fraction of the time it would take to build them from scratch. Being able to drop into JavaScript when I need custom logic makes it flexible enough for real engineering work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be a bit confusing at times. With a lot of components, queries, and settings panels, it sometimes takes a moment to find where something is configured. Once you get used to the layout it becomes much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retool lets us ship internal tools without spending full engineering cycles on them. Instead of building custom admin interfaces for every workflow, we can spin up a working tool on top of existing data in hours. It saves a lot of development time and lets the team self-serve on operational tasks.
