This listing offers one pricing dimension: ScalarDB Cluster Premium Edition, billed by usage on a pay-as-you-go basis. You pay per unit consumed. A unit equals one pod with 2 vCPU and 4GB of memory. If a pod exceeds these limits, the unit count rounds up based on either vCPU (divided by 2) or memory (divided by 4GB), whichever is greater. Your cost scales with the number and size of the pods you run. There are no upfront commitments or fixed quantities with this model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What features come with ScalarDB Cluster Premium Edition compared to the underlying engine?
Premium Edition adds a GraphQL interface and a vector search interface on top of transaction processing across databases, non-transactional storage operations, authentication and authorization, and the SQL interface. These features support querying, storing, and searching embeddings for AI applications alongside distributed transactions.
How is a unit counted when my pod uses more than 2 vCPU or 4GB of memory?
Each pod is one unit at 2 vCPU and 4GB memory. If a pod exceeds this, the count rounds up. Divide vCPUs by 2, divide memory by 4GB, then take whichever result is greater. A vCPU is a virtual CPU, matching the CPU you configure in your container platform.
Does the software store my data, and how does that affect scaling costs?
ScalarDB runs as middleware and does not persist any data itself. Because of this, performance scales linearly as you add pods. Your cost grows with the number and size of pods you run, so you can scale capacity up or down to match demand.

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
AWS Support is a one-on-one, fast-response support channel that is staffed 24x7x365 with experienced and technical support engineers. The service helps customers of all sizes and technical abilities to successfully utilize the products and features provided by Amazon Web Services.
