    Hardened Windows Server 2025

     Info
    Deployed on AWS
    AWS Free Tier
This product has charges associated with it for preconfigured security hardening, ongoing image maintenance, and seller support. Deploy a hardened Microsoft Windows Server 2025 AMI for Hardened workloads with secure defaults and a repeatable operating-system baseline.

    Overview

This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for Hardened Images security hardening, ongoing image maintenance, release evidence, and Hardened Images support.

Hardened Windows Server 2025 gives teams a production-ready operating system baseline for Hardened-scoped workloads on AWS.

Move from a general-purpose Microsoft Windows Server image to a documented, security-focused starting point without spending weeks designing controls, building hardening automation, troubleshooting configuration dependencies, and assembling release evidence. Hardened Images handles the operating system baseline so your team can focus on your applications and the controls specific to your environment.

    What You Get

    • Hardened Images-applied Microsoft Windows Server 2025 security hardening designed to support Hardened infrastructure requirements
    • The implemented Windows baseline covers Event Log availability, PowerShell script block logging, AutoRun restrictions, and Microsoft Defender antivirus, real-time protection, and current security intelligence. Review the release report for the exact evaluated controls and exclusions.
    • Current Microsoft Windows Server package and security updates applied during the controlled image build
    • Pre-hardening and post-hardening assessment results, remediation history, and a release-specific evidence report for the exact image release
    • A clean, application-neutral AMI with no bundled business applications, third-party security agents, or platform lock-in
    • Ongoing Hardened Images image maintenance and direct access to a Hardened Images support team

Built for Security-Focused and Regulated Workloads

Use this image as a repeatable baseline for:

    • Security-focused production workloads
    • Regulated development and test environments
    • Audit remediation projects
    • Golden image programs
    • Organizations that need a faster path to a defensible Windows Server baseline

The AMI helps reduce manual hardening effort and configuration drift across AWS accounts and environments. Infrastructure teams can deploy the same reviewed baseline behind their own network controls, identity model, deployment pipeline, observability stack, backup policy, and workload configuration.

Security and compliance teams also gain release records that are easier to trace directly to the image being deployed.

This image is built for x86-64 EC2 instances and supports x86-64 EC2 instance families and x86-64-native application stacks.

    Deploy and Operate with Confidence

The image is ready for use when launched. Hardened Images recommends AWS Systems Manager Session Manager (SSM) for administrative access whenever possible so RDP does not need to be exposed to the public Internet.

If RDP is required, use the Administrator account, the credentials obtained through the approved EC2 access process, and tightly scoped network access.

Detailed usage instructions in this listing cover connection methods, accessing hardening evidence, and getting support.

For routine updates, apply Microsoft Windows Server security patches through your approved change process. When Hardened Images publishes a new image version, validate it outside production before using a controlled replacement or migration process.

    Hardening Evidence

Each Hardened Images release includes supporting documentation and release-specific hardening evidence. Use the Hardened Images documentation and Trust Center resources referenced in this listing to review:

    • Applied security controls
    • Pre-hardening and post-hardening assessment results
    • Remediation history
    • Release-specific validation evidence
    • Documented exceptions, where applicable

    Hardened Images Support Included

    Email support@hardenedimages.com  for help with:

    • Choosing the right image
    • Understanding hardening behavior
    • Patching or upgrade planning
    • Locating release evidence
    • Troubleshooting image behavior
    • Hardened review questions related to the operating system baseline

Support requests are handled by the Hardened Images support team.

    Scope and Customer Responsibility

This AMI is designed to support Hardened infrastructure objectives, but launching a hardened image does not by itself make an application, AWS account, regulated environment, or organization secure or compliant with any external framework.

Customers remain responsible for the security and compliance of their complete environment, including application security, IAM, network segmentation, encryption, key and secret management, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, backups, incident response, operational procedures, and compliance validation.

Review the provided evidence against your organization's requirements and involve your assessor where appropriate.

    Highlights

    • Start with Microsoft Windows Server 2025 security settings designed for Hardened-scoped AWS workloads.
    • Reduce manual baseline work with a maintained, application-neutral AMI that is ready for your approved workloads and tooling.
    • Get ongoing image maintenance and seller support for deployment, hardening behavior, patching, and upgrades.

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for the running instance, with no upfront commitment. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the instance you choose. Prices scale with instance size, from small burstable types up to large memory-, compute-, storage-, GPU-, and high-memory-optimized families, including bare metal options. The software content is the same hardened Windows Server 2025 baseline across all instances. You select the instance that fits your workload, and hourly charges reflect that choice. Standard AWS infrastructure charges apply separately from this software rate.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of that specific type. You pay the hourly software rate for every hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance size and family you pick, from small burstable types up to bare metal and high-memory instances.
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue this hourly software charge. AWS may still bill separately for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Those AWS infrastructure fees are always separate from the software rate.
No. The hardened Windows Server 2025 baseline is identical across every instance type. Your instance choice affects compute, memory, storage, and hourly rate only, not the security content. The baseline reflects the verified release evidence for this image.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Using Hardened Windows Server 2025

    Connect to Your Instance

We recommend using AWS Systems Manager Session Manager (SSM) whenever possible. It provides a secure way to access your instance without exposing RDP to the public Internet.

    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager.html

If you prefer to use RDP, the default username is Administrator. Retrieve the Windows password from the EC2 console using the key pair selected when launching the instance, then connect to <public-ip-address>.

If RDP is enabled, limit port 3389 in your security group to your trusted IP address whenever possible. For production environments, we recommend deploying the instance inside a private VPC and using SSM or another controlled access method.
