Dimensions summary
You buy this chat product on an annual contract sized by monthly active users (MAU) and concurrent connections. Three capacity levels are offered: 10K, 25K, and 50K MAU, each pairing a set number of concurrent connections. Every level comes in two feature sets. Start includes moderation, filters, offline support, and data export. Elevate adds all Start features plus multi-tenancy, advanced search, HIPAA support, and message translations. As you move up a capacity level, both included MAU and concurrent connections rise together. An Enterprise option scales further through a private offer you arrange directly with the vendor.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
An MAU is any user who connects to the chat servers within a calendar month. If chat is available to your whole app, your MAU equals your total user base. If chat is optional, your MAU is only the subset of users who actually connect.
Both MAU and concurrent connections carry included amounts set by your capacity level. When usage passes those amounts, overage charges apply per extra user and per extra concurrent connection each month. These charges add to your contract fee on the same invoice.
A concurrent connection is a peak count of open WebSocket connections between devices and the servers during your billing cycle. One user can hold several connections at once, such as when logged in on multiple devices. The peak point in the month sets your measured concurrency.
