You pay by the hour for the GPU-accelerated EC2 instance you run this software on. All 21 options bill the same way, so your cost depends on which instance size you choose and how long it runs. The dimensions span four GPU instance families: g4dn, g5, g6, and g7. Within each family, sizes range from xlarge upward to larger multi-xlarge configurations that add more compute, memory, and GPU capacity. Larger sizes carry higher hourly rates. You can start, stop, and scale instances as your broadcast workload changes, matching spend to actual usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get when I run this on a GPU instance like g4dn or g5?
You run the full broadcast software suite on a GPU-accelerated EC2 instance. The GPU handles hardware video encoding, such as HEVC output. Larger instance sizes give you more CPU, memory, and GPU capacity to run more playout channels at once, including SD, HD, UHD, and 8K formats.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped?
You pay the software rate only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing hourly software charges. This lets you spin up channels for large events and shut them down afterward. Note that underlying AWS storage for a stopped instance may still incur separate AWS fees.
Can I run more than one broadcast channel on a single instance?
Yes. The software supports multiple playout channels on one machine, up to 16 channels in a single box or virtual machine. Choosing a larger instance size gives you more compute and GPU capacity to support more simultaneous channels. Your hourly cost depends on the instance size you pick, not the channel count.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
