See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you launch this software on. The dimensions are not feature tiers; they are hardware sizes across several instance families. T2 and T3/T3a options cover general-purpose burstable compute. M-series (m4 through m7a) adds steady general-purpose capacity. C-series (c5, c5a, c6a) targets compute-heavy use. R-series (r5, r5a, r6a, r6i) provides memory-focused capacity. Within each family, larger sizes (large, xlarge) cost more per hour. Pick the size matching your workload; the vendor suggests t3a.xlarge as a baseline.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what resources come with it?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you pick, billed per hour. You get the software pre-installed as a machine image. The instance bundles the ticketing app plus its database, caching, and search services. Vendor hourly charges apply on top of standard AWS instance costs.
Am I charged when I stop the instance?
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. You can stop the instance from the EC2 console and restart it later. When stopped, the software meter pauses. Standard AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply even while the instance is stopped.
How do I move to a bigger instance size as my ticket volume grows?
You redeploy on a size matching your needs; pricing follows the instance type you launch. The search index can grow quickly on busy support desks, so you may need more memory or CPU headroom. Check volume usage and resize storage if the root disk nears full capacity.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
