Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 with vendor support. Pricing is billed as usage, with no upfront commitment. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the instance you run. Options span many instance families, including general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU or accelerated types. Sizes range from small shared instances to bare-metal and high-memory machines. Larger or more capable instances carry higher hourly rates. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and your cost scales with that choice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I receive for the hourly rate on each instance type?
You receive Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 as a virtual machine image, plus support from the vendor. The rate covers the software licence and support for that running instance. The underlying compute is the matching AWS EC2 instance type you launch. Each instance size maps to its own hourly rate.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Charges resume when you start the instance again. Note that stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS, not by this software licence.
What drives my cost if I run several instances at once?
Each running instance bills independently at the hourly rate for its own instance type. Costs add together across all active instances. Running more instances, or larger instance types, raises your total. There is no single combined meter. Your bill is the sum of each instance's hours multiplied by its rate.
