Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for a pre-configured Docker image running on Ubuntu 22.04. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type you choose to run. The many options cover general purpose, compute, memory, storage, GPU, and high-performance families in sizes from nano up to metal. Your hourly rate scales with the instance you select, since larger instances carry more CPU, memory, and resources. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing follows the hours that instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type running the Docker on Ubuntu 22.04 image. You are billed for each hour that instance runs. One running instance of the selected type equals one billable unit per hour. Larger instance sizes carry more CPU and memory, which raises the hourly rate.
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Your bill follows the instance type you select and the hours it runs. Moving to a larger family or size raises the hourly rate, since it carries more CPU, memory, or specialized resources. Smaller sizes lower it. Only the type you actually run is billed.

Usage instructions
1. Connect to the instance via SSH:

Once your instance is running, connect to it using an SSH client with the private key you configured during launch.

The default username for Ubuntu-based instances is ubuntu.
Example SSH command:
ssh -i /path/to/your-key.pem ubuntu@<instance-public-ip>
2. Run OS commands via SSH:
- After logging in, use sudo to run commands that require root access.
3. Test Docker installation:
- To verify that Docker is installed and running properly, run the following command: sudo docker run hello-world This will pull the hello-world image and run it, displaying a message indicating that Docker is working correctly.
