You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so the price scales with the compute capacity you choose. Options span burstable t2, t3, and t3a families for lighter workloads, along with m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n general-purpose families for larger needs. Sizes range from nano and micro up to 24xlarge and bare metal. The included support and software cost is billed alongside your AWS compute usage. You are charged only for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly does one hourly unit cover for a given instance type?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of that type, billed per hour. The rate bundles the SUSE Enterprise Server 16 software license plus vendor support. You pay this alongside the underlying AWS compute charge for the same instance. Larger instance types carry a higher hourly rate.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from this listing's software and support fee.
How do I connect to the server after launch, and what does support cover?
After launch, find the instance IP in your AWS account and connect over SSH using a generated private key and the ec2-user login. The hourly rate includes vendor support and regular software updates. For license questions, contact the vendor support team directly.
