Guides: agent context that lives in your warehouse
MotherDuck is the serverless data warehouse built for agents. DuckDB compute instances deliver sub-second analytics with 100ms spin-ups, while compute stays fully isolated. Pay only for what you use with per-second billing. Get started with free storage and compute at motherduck.com.
Hypertenant architecture. Every user and agent gets a dedicated compute instance with full data isolation. No resource contention, over-provisioning, or runaway AI queries. Compute instances spin up in 100ms and tear down when you're done.
Pipelines and visualizations included. Run Python data pipelines in a native runtime, and visualize query results in seconds with agent-native tools, accessible through an MCP server.
Predictable, transparent cost. MotherDuck bills at a one-second minimum, versus the 60-second minimum common to traditional warehouses. Idle compute costs nothing, and there are no opaque credit models.
Postgres compatible. Keep your Postgres drivers, tools, and application logic. Point them at MotherDuck's Postgres endpoint and turn slow analytical queries into sub-second results.
Scales with you. Reach petabyte scale with managed DuckLake, or query Iceberg catalogs and object storage directly.
Customers like Together AI and GoodShip run internal analytics, customer-facing applications, and analytics agents on MotherDuck.
Highlights
Serverless SQL analytics, zero infrastructure: query local and cloud data with DuckDB speed. No clusters to manage. Sub-second queries, billed by the second.
Built for AI agents: hypertenant architecture gives every user and agent dedicated, isolated compute. The built-in MCP Server turns natural language into SQL and shareable visualizations.
Postgres compatible, petabyte scale: keep your Postgres drivers and point them at MotherDuck. Scale with managed DuckLake or query Iceberg catalogs directly.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
This listing uses a single usage-based dimension. You pay for what you consume, measured in Units. Your charges reflect the compute you run, the data you store, and any AI functions you call. Compute meters by the second or per query depending on the instance size you pick, so costs scale with the workload you run. Storage meters per gigabyte each month. There are no fixed tiers to select on Marketplace; your bill rises and falls with actual usage. Charges appear on your AWS invoice through a private offer.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one Unit of consumption on my bill?
A Unit tracks your actual consumption across three areas. Compute meters by the second for most instance sizes, or per query for lightweight workloads. Storage meters per gigabyte of compressed data each month. AI functions meter per call, with one AI Unit equal to a set dollar rate. All three add up on your invoice.
Am I charged for compute when my instance sits idle or stopped?
Most compute meters by the second only while a query or job runs, so idle time does not accrue compute charges. Lightweight workloads meter per query. Storage charges continue because your data stays on disk. Stored data that you mutate or delete is retained for 7 days and metered during that window.
Which usage area usually drives most of my bill?
Compute often leads for heavy query and transformation workloads, since larger instance sizes meter at higher per-second rates. Storage can dominate when you keep large datasets with low query activity. AI function calls add separately. All three bill at the same time and combine on your AWS invoice.
