Guides: agent context that lives in your warehouse
MotherDuck is the serverless data warehouse built for agents. DuckDB compute instances deliver sub-second analytics with 100ms spin-ups, while compute stays fully isolated. Pay only for what you use with per-second billing. Get started with free storage and compute at motherduck.com.
Hypertenant architecture. Every user and agent gets a dedicated compute instance with full data isolation. No resource contention, over-provisioning, or runaway AI queries. Compute instances spin up in 100ms and tear down when you're done.
Pipelines and visualizations included. Run Python data pipelines in a native runtime, and visualize query results in seconds with agent-native tools, accessible through an MCP server.
Predictable, transparent cost. MotherDuck bills at a one-second minimum, versus the 60-second minimum common to traditional warehouses. Idle compute costs nothing, and there are no opaque credit models.
Postgres compatible. Keep your Postgres drivers, tools, and application logic. Point them at MotherDuck's Postgres endpoint and turn slow analytical queries into sub-second results.
Scales with you. Reach petabyte scale with managed DuckLake, or query Iceberg catalogs and object storage directly.
Customers like Together AI and GoodShip run internal analytics, customer-facing applications, and analytics agents on MotherDuck.
Highlights
Serverless SQL analytics, zero infrastructure: query local and cloud data with DuckDB speed. No clusters to manage. Sub-second queries, billed by the second.
Built for AI agents: hypertenant architecture gives every user and agent dedicated, isolated compute. The built-in MCP Server turns natural language into SQL and shareable visualizations.
Postgres compatible, petabyte scale: keep your Postgres drivers and point them at MotherDuck. Scale with managed DuckLake or query Iceberg catalogs directly.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
This contract combines two pricing dimensions. The Units dimension charges you based on your actual consumption, so your cost rises with how much you use. The Platform Fee is a separate charge set individually within your private offer. Together they form a usage-plus-platform structure: one part scales with activity, the other is a negotiated base. Because this is sold as a private offer, both amounts are agreed with the vendor and appear on your AWS invoice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the usage-based Units charge actually meter?
Units cover consumption across compute, storage, and AI functions. Compute is metered per second by instance size, with lightweight instances metered per query. Storage is metered per GB per month on compressed, on-disk data. AI functions bill per call. Your total Units reflect the sum of these activities.
How do the Units and Platform Fee combine on my invoice?
Both charges apply at the same time. The Platform Fee is a fixed base set in your private offer. Units are added on top, rising with actual consumption. For steady platform access the fee is constant, while heavy compute, storage, or AI activity drives the Units portion higher.
Am I charged for compute instances when they sit idle?
Each user or agent gets a dedicated instance that spins up on first query and scales to zero when idle. You pay only for active compute time. Per-second instances stop accruing once idle. Storage, metered per GB per month, continues separately regardless of compute activity.
