Centralized Server Control with Easy Setup

    Reviewed on Nov 26, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I find the XAMPP Server on Windows 2019 + Apache Web Server + MariaDB + FTP incredibly easy to use, which greatly enhances my workflow. The ability to start Apache and MySQL databases with just one click offers me a centralized system to control all servers in one place, thus simplifying local hosting and database management for my PHP projects. This ease of initialization and installation locally ensures a straightforward setup, allowing for efficient front-end and back-end development. The server provides essential support for running files successfully on a local server, which is crucial for scripting languages that can't be operated live without a proper server environment. Moreover, the installation process being straightforward via its official website and installation wizard further adds to its user-friendliness, making it a valuable tool for my projects. I also highly rate and recommend it to my friends and colleagues due to the seamless and productive experience it offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it frustrating when the database files become unexpectedly full, leading to crashes that occur without any apparent reason. This is a critical issue that should be addressed to ensure smoother performance and stability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use XAMPP Server on Windows 2019 + Apache Web Server + MariaDB + FTP for centralized control of all servers, allowing me to easily start Apache and MySQL databases and manage local hosting and database projects for PHP.

    Open Source and Free

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
XAMPP is open source and free to use. This makes it a cost-effective solution for individuals and small teams looking for a simple and efficient way to set up a local development environment.

While XAMPP is beneficial for local development and testing, keep in mind that it may not be suitable for production environments. For production, it's recommended to use a more tailored setup based on specific server and security requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
    FTP Server Not Included:
While XAMPP includes a variety of components, it does not include an FTP server. If FTP functionality is needed, users must install and configure an external FTP server separately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    PHP Compatibility Testing:
Developers can easily switch between different PHP versions with XAMPP, enabling them to test their applications for compatibility with various PHP releases.
