You pay by the hour for this pre-configured Grafana stack on Windows Server 2019. Pricing is tied to the EC2 instance size you choose, so your software cost scales with the compute power you run. Burstable instance families (t2, t3, t3a) cover lighter workloads across nano, micro, small, medium, large, and xlarge sizes. General-purpose families (m4, m6a, m7a) handle steadier loads and scale up through large, xlarge, and multi-xlarge sizes. Larger instances cost more per hour. You only pay for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what software comes pre-installed on the instance?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you pick, billed per hour. Each instance runs Windows Server 2019 with Grafana, Prometheus, and the Windows Node Exporter already installed and set to start automatically. You add your monitoring targets and begin viewing metrics right away.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. You may still pay underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the instance volume, while it is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How do I move from a burstable instance to a general-purpose one as my monitoring load grows?
You launch a new instance of the size you need and switch to it. Since billing is per hour with no commitment, you can move between t2, t3, t3a burstable sizes and m4, m6a, m7a general-purpose sizes anytime. Your hourly rate changes to match the new instance.
