Overview
This is a repackaged open-source software product wherein additional charges apply for support and for providing it in a simple consumable AMI. Prometheus is an open-source monitoring tool with a time-series database. It is a multi-dimensional data model with time series data identified by metric names and key/value pairs. At GlobalSolutions, we have made it easy for our customers to subscribe to our AMI and start using it immediately with ease. We have installed and configured Prometheus, WMI Exporter, and Grafana.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a different instance type, so your rate changes with the compute, memory, and network capacity you choose. Smaller instances like t2.micro and t2.small suit light monitoring workloads. Mid-range options include t2.medium, t2.large, t2.xlarge, and m4.xlarge. Compute-heavy choices like c3.2xlarge and m4.2xlarge handle larger monitoring loads. All options bill hourly through AWS and run the same preconfigured monitoring stack on Windows Server. You pick the instance size that fits your workload and scaling needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to an EC2 instance type with set compute, memory, and network capacity. The t2 options provide burstable general-purpose compute. The m4 options add more memory and steadier performance. The c3.2xlarge favors compute-heavy monitoring. You pay the hourly rate tied to the instance type you launch.
Software charges meter running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume. The monitoring stack bills only while the instance is running.
Every instance type runs the same preconfigured stack on Windows Server. This includes Prometheus, the Windows metrics exporter, and a graphing dashboard, all set as auto-starting services. A sample dashboard shows uptime, CPU, memory, network, and disk metrics. You only add your own monitoring targets.
