Overview

The M2 Tableau Toolbox is a collection of productivity tools that help you manage and work with your Tableau Server. It contains utilities for mail bursts (Mail-Tool) and for creating customized write back extensions for Tableau dashboards (Form Builder).

The Mail Tool lets you automate the delivery of up-to-date, user-specific content to recipients inside or outside of your Tableau Server user base. Attach dashboards as images, PDF files, and raw data as CSV, or embed them directly into your newsletter as PNG.

The Form Builder allows to easily create Tableau- Extensions - without requiring knowledge of programming languages - providing simple tools which can be combined to create flexible and fully customizable input masks. Each of the forms can be configured such that they read Tableau filters and communicate with a database in diverse ways. With the Form Builder SQL-Queries can be executed considering the context of the Tableau dashboard. The Form Builder provides the functionality to change the underlying data source of a Tableau Dashboard interactively and visualize the results of the changes in real-time.

Usage instructions

After starting the instance, the toolbox will be available at the public dns generated by Amazon. The username is 'admin' and the password is the 'instance_id'. You can log on to the OS with the provided ssh key. The OS user is 'ubuntu'. You have to ensure that your tableau server is reachable from the instance.
