Overview
Netskope Virtual Private Edge (VPE) delivers cloud-grade security on-premises via a cloud-managed VM appliance. For enterprises bound by data residency requirements, regulatory mandates, or latency-sensitive workloads, routing traffic through the public cloud is not always an option. VPE was purpose-built for these environments deployed as a virtual machine on ESXi, KVM, or AWS EC2, additional hypervisor support will be added later and it acts as an on-premises enforcement point for inline traffic inspection, threat protection, and policy enforcement, without sending sensitive data outside the organization's perimeter. Yet despite running on-premises, VPE is fully cloud-managed, connecting to the Netskope tenant over a secure management channel to receive policy updates, configuration changes, and software upgrades automatically, with a single pane of glass across every VPE node and cloud enforcement point. Beyond SWG, VPE is designed as an extensible on-premises platform. Organizations can leverage VPE as the foundation for additional Netskope services, including AI Guardrails, which enforces safe and compliant use of generative AI applications, and AI Command Center, which provides visibility and control over AI activity across the enterprise.
