You pay by the hour for SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro 5.5, a lightweight, immutable OS built for containerized and virtual workloads. Pricing is usage-based, so you are charged only for the hours you run. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type (x86_64), from small shared instances like t2.nano up to large metal and memory-optimized instances. The software rate corresponds to the instance size and family you select. Larger or more specialized instances carry higher hourly rates. What does the hourly software charge cover, and am I billed when an instance is stopped?
The hourly rate covers the SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro operating system running on your chosen EC2 instance. You pay software charges only for hours the instance runs. Stopped or terminated instances stop accruing software charges. Underlying AWS compute and storage fees are billed separately by AWS.
What does one billing dimension represent, and how do I pick the right one?
Each dimension maps to one specific EC2 instance type on x86_64 hardware. You select the dimension that matches the instance you launch. The instance's size and family set the hourly software rate. You match the instance to your workload's CPU and memory needs.
How does my bill change if I run more instances or larger instance types?
Software charges add up across every running instance. Launching more instances raises your total by each instance's hourly rate. Choosing a larger or more specialized instance type applies a higher hourly rate. Charges accrue independently per instance and combine on one invoice based on run time.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Use the image to start an instance of your choice in Amazon EC2. Once the instance is running connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client as 'ec2-user' and the configured SSH key. The instance is connected to the SUSE update infrastructure to receive updates. Use the transactional-update command to update the system or install additional packages.
In order to provide you with support for your SLE Micro instance, you need to first generate and upload your instance's supportconfig file. See the Marketplace Support Page in SUSE Customer Center for more information on how to create a supportconfig file and follow the prompts.
