You pay by the hour for the software running on an AWS EC2 instance. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term. Pricing has one hourly rate per instance type. The list spans many AWS instance families, including general purpose (m, t), compute optimized (c), memory optimized (r), and storage optimized (i). Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to 2xlarge. Larger instances give more CPU and memory and carry higher hourly rates. Choose the instance type that fits your capacity needs; your cost scales with that choice plus standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly am I paying for with the hourly rate on each instance type?
You pay for the preconfigured BitTorrent Server software license, billed per hour the instance runs. One "unit" is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick. Standard AWS infrastructure charges for compute, storage, and network apply separately on top of this software rate.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when I stop or power off the instance?
The hourly software charge applies while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the software rate. You may still pay AWS storage fees for the attached volume. The appliance meters running time only, so idle but running instances still bill the hourly rate.
Does moving to a larger instance change how the software is billed?
The pricing model stays the same hourly structure for every instance type. Switching to an instance with more CPU and memory means a higher hourly rate for that type. You are not locked in; you can relaunch on a different type and billing follows your current choice.
