You pay by the hour based on the GPU-enabled EC2 instance type you launch. This software runs on Ubuntu 22.04 with a remote display protocol and NVIDIA Tesla GPU drivers. Pricing is not tiered by features; every instance includes the same software. Instead, the hourly rate tracks the instance you choose. Options span several GPU instance families, from single-GPU sizes like g4dn.xlarge and g5.xlarge up to multi-GPU sizes like p3.16xlarge, g5.48xlarge, and g4dn.metal. As you select instances with more GPUs and compute capacity, the hourly software charge scales accordingly. AWS infrastructure costs are billed separately.

What does one hour of billing represent for these GPU instances?
One hour equals one hour of running time on the specific EC2 instance type you launch. The rate reflects that instance size and its GPU count. Larger multi-GPU instances carry higher hourly software rates than single-GPU sizes. Metering follows the running instance, not the number of users.
Am I charged the software fee when the instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time. When you stop the instance, the software fee stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage costs for attached volumes, which AWS bills separately. Only running hours generate the software charge shown in the table.
Do features differ between the instance types, or only price?
The software is the same across every instance type. You get Ubuntu 22.04, a remote display protocol, and NVIDIA Tesla GPU drivers on each. Only the hourly rate changes with the instance you pick. Choosing a larger GPU instance gives more compute, not extra software features.

Launch the instance either via AWS MarketPlace wizard or EC2 console
NICE DCV Access
Configure the Security Group to open Inbound TCP and UDP ports 8443 from your location or use default settings (open to the world)
Configure the Security Group to open Inbound TCP port 22 from your location or 0.0.0.0/0 (open to the world)
Use an SSH client (for example: https://www.putty.org) to connect to the instance's IP on the port 22.
Authenticate to the instance using the key pair selected during the instance launch. The user name is ubuntu.

Monitoring the Health of the instance
Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.
Choose Instance and select your launched instance.
Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
Using EBS encryption, the decryption is done automatically when using the instance.
Customer data can be saved anywhere in the instance, however it is a good practice to save user data (including sensitive data) in the /home/<user-name> directory.
