GoAnywhere MFT Agents are managed by a central deployment of GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (MFT), which allows you to configure and schedule agent file transfers and business processes from an intuitive, browser-based interface.
MFT agents can be installed onto almost any server or workstation where file transfers or workflows need to be performed. This includes Windows, Linux, UNIX, IBM I, and Mac OS systems. For organizations who prefer to perform their file transfers in the cloud, GoAnywhere MFT supports the use of agents remotely in cloud infrastructure such as Amazon EC2 or Microsoft Azure.
GoAnywhere MFT agents support many features to help you meet key IT initiatives in your organization. Here are just a few of the things agents can do:
- Automate and secure file transfers within a centrally managed environment
- Monitor folders on agent systems for new or modified files
- Schedule agent file transfers to run at future dates/times

Usage instructions
Prior to creating EC2 instance, copy Agent CA certificate from GoAnywhere MFT:
- Log in to GoAnywhere MFT Admin
- Go to Services/Service Manager
- Click gear icon beside 'Agents' and select 'Edit'
- Go to Server/SSL section
- Click on link next to 'CA Certificate'
- Copy contents of 'Server CA PEM Format' tab
While Launching EC2:
- Under 'Advanced Details', find the 'User data' section, paste in following code and update accordingly:

What do you like best about the product?
I like that GoAnywhere MFT gives us confidence around data security. Since I deal with sensitive client data, knowing everything is encrypted and handled properly is a big plus. The automation really helps—once things are set up, transfers just happen in the background without us having to worry about them. With GoAnywhere, the security gives us peace of mind because all sensitive data is encrypted and controlled. The automation helps by removing manual work, so transfers run smoothly in the background with fewer chances of errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that could be better is that it has a bit of a learning curve at the start, especially when setting up secure workflows. Also, when something fails, figuring out the issue from the logs can take some time. In the logs, it can be a bit hard to follow, and it takes time to trace the exact issue. The initial setup, especially around security settings, can feel a bit complex. Clearer error messages and more guided setup would make things much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GoAnywhere MFT secures sensitive data with encryption and controlled sharing, automates file transfers, reducing manual work, and enhances reliability and manageability for my team's workflow.

What do you like best about the product?
I use GoAnywhere MFT as our main gateway for securely sending and receiving sensitive data. It guarantees encryption both at rest and in transit, making it essential for our highly regulated industry. It helps us automate encryption and decryption, manage our SFTP connections, and maintain a strict audit trail of data transactions, easing compliance audits. The centralized dashboard providing visibility into file movements is a lifesaver, proving exactly when a file was encrypted, sent, and delivered. I appreciate how it balances high-level security with usability, offering an intuitive, user-friendly interface for our IT team. The built-in key management system is fantastic, making managing PGP keys, SSH keys, and SSL certificates more organized and reducing errors. I love the robust automated folders and monitors, which instantly trigger processes, making our data pipeline fast. I also value GoAnywhere's seamless integration with AWS and Azure storage, acting as a secure bridge between external vendors and our internal cloud infrastructure. Its drag-and-drop interface for building workflows is intuitive, and the customer support and pricing structure fit us well. Overall, it completely solves our compliance headaches.
What do you dislike about the product?
The licensing model can be on the expensive side, especially for smaller teams or if you need to add on specific premium modules later. The initial sticker shock and the cost of scaling up can be a hurdle. I'm not a huge fan of the recent push to transition perpetual licenses over to a subscription-based model. It feels like our annual maintenance costs are going up just to stay on the same platform. The most tedious part of the configuration was locking down the granular permission and managing the encryption keys. Mapping virtual folders for our external web users and ensuring the RBAC was completely watertight took a lot of trial and error to get exactly right.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like how GoAnywhere MFT simplifies automation, taking away a lot of manual effort when handling client data like payroll and accounting files while keeping everything secure. It just makes daily work smoother and more reliable. The visibility it provides is also fantastic; I can easily track all our client data transfers in one place and quickly spot if something goes wrong, making monitoring and handling issues much easier. I also appreciate how it connects well with APIs, servers, and cloud storage, helping us move data smoothly between different systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area that could be better in this app is the UI; it feels a bit outdated and not always very intuitive. Also, when something fails, understanding the log can take a bit of effort, especially when dealing with critical client data. One improvement would be better troubleshooting support; when a transfer fails, it can take time to figure out the exact issue. More detailed and clearer error messages would really help speed things up.

What I like most about GoAnywhere MFT is its ease of automation and strong security. It makes setting up reliable, encrypted file transfers simple while giving clear visibility and control from one place. I also like its user-friendly interface and flexibility. It supports many protocols and integrates well with different systems. The centralized dashboard and detailed audit logs make monitoring and compliance much easier. Additionally, it integrates well with databases, cloud storage like AWS S3, and enterprise systems like ERP/CRM tools via APIs and scripts, making it easy to automate end-to-end workflows. The initial setup was fairly straightforward and quick for basic configuration, and overall it was manageable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can feel a bit dated and complex at times, especially for new users. Troubleshooting errors isn't always intuitive, and some advanced configuration can be harder to setup than expected. The UI could be more intuitive with simpler navigation, clearer labels, and customizable dashboards. Troubleshooting would improve with clearer error messages and guided diagnostics.
