Overview
VMware Application Catalog provides a catalog of trusted, pre-packaged collection of popular open source software (OSS) application components for use in production environments. Built on top of the Bitnami brand, customers use VMware Application Catalog to create a catalog of Helm Charts, container images and Virtual Machines (OVA) that are continuously packaged, updated, and verified. VMware Application Catalog ensures that each artifact packaged is signed, scanned and verified, and provides a full set of metadata like a complete bill of materials, vulnerability scan results, test results and build provenance. From the moment a customer decides to request an OSS application, VMware Application Catalog starts shipping that OSS application continuously providing daily snapshots that guarantee that the latest vulnerability fixes are picked both from the application and the Operating System (OS) upstream sources. Customers can choose amongst the most popular environments like Ubuntu, RedHat UBI, Photon, Debian, or CentOS, as the base OS for the container images and Helm charts, or provide their own hardened OS image if needed. Containers and Helm Charts are verified to work on the most popular Kubernetes distributions like EKS, AKS, GKE, TKG or OpenShift. Finally, customers can request a custom OCI registry where VMware Application Catalog can deliver the artifacts or they can choose to provide their own OCI registry from the most popular used ones: Harbor, GCR, ACR, GHCR, etc.

You choose between two contract editions based on how many active artifacts you need. Active artifacts are the container images, helm charts, and virtual machines you actively use from the catalog. The Commercial Team Edition covers up to 25 active artifacts. The Commercial Org Edition covers up to 300 active artifacts. Both are priced per unit under a contract commitment. Top-of-mind questions for buyers
An active artifact is a single container image, helm chart, or virtual machine you actively use from the catalog. Each packaged open source application or service you pull and maintain counts toward your artifact allowance. Your edition caps how many you can keep active at once.
The Commercial Team Edition caps you at 25 active artifacts. The Commercial Org Edition caps you at 300. If your usage grows past your edition's limit, you move to the edition that matches your artifact volume. The transition is not automatic; you select the edition covering your needs.
Cost is driven by active artifacts, not application types. Each container image, helm chart, or virtual machine you keep active counts as one artifact against your edition's allowance. Pricing is charged per unit under a contract. Your total depends on which edition you select and its artifact cap.
