Overview
SFTP Gateway is an all-in-one solution to provide and configure SFTP access to limitless and reliable cloud storage locations, like S3. It includes a web interface and REST API that simplifies user management, folder permissions and instance administration, whether you are supporting a single user or thousands.
How it works:
SFTP Gateway is an SFTP server that provides real-time access to files stored on cloud storage. Users can move files to and from cloud platforms using an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP. Behind the scenes, SFTP Gateway uses a software layer that translates the SFTP protocol to AWS SDK commands.
Easy User Management:
SFTP Gateway comes with a web admin UI for managing users and folders. The new folder management feature lets you set up flexible file sharing scenarios. Also new in version 3 is the ability to configure per-user IP address restrictions.
Security and Compliance:
SFTP Gateway supports both key-based and password authentication.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
An independent third party security audit of SFTP Gateway provides confidence your data is moving safely to the cloud.

Simple and Great
I hope this isn't a duplicate review.... but we're finally ready for "go live" for our need for this and I spent more time tweaking the configuration and such...
Anyway - this is such a good 'simple' solution for setting up a HIPAA compliant sFTP setup. I tried the AWS native product - way too complicated (and expensive), and found this. They are very responsive with support needs. Overall, though, once you understand the setup and flow, this is very easy to manage. Very easy to add new external users. The whole thing is simple and great.
The perfect SFTP solution
I look back on the days of running our own SFTP server and wonder what we were thinking. SFTP Gateway is a phenomenal product, and makes everything incredibly easy. We rest easy knowing we have a secure and well-designed system running, and files are stored directly in our global S3 buckets. Oh, and the customer support is top notch. Can't recommend them enough!
Perfect for our needs
We needed a drop-in replacement for a legacy FTP service that is no longer secure. SFTP-Gateway was the perfect fit. It's much easier to set up and manage than AWS Transfer Family products. Since it uses S3 buckets on the backend, I can mount those S3 buckets on the EC2 instances where I need it.

When looking for a reliable and easy to set up SFTP site integrated with AWS, SFTP Gateway by Thorn Technologies was the first one to come up so I gave it a try. I have to say it was a breeze to setup with their pre-baked CloudFormation templates I was up and running in the amount of time it took to provision the resources. I ran into a small hiccup setting the admin portal on an SSL cert, however, Thorn Technologies was there with exceptional customer service. Robert was quick to respond to my many many questions and together we able to resolve any issues I had. He was courteous, extremely knowledgeable and a delight to work with. If you are looking for an SFTP service that is easy to setup, has great documentation and wonderful customer support, look no further than SFTP Gateway by Thorn Technologies.
