Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the running software on an EC2 instance. Each dimension matches one EC2 instance type, so your hourly rate follows the size and family you pick. Smaller shared types like t3 and t2 sit at the low end, while large memory, compute, storage, and GPU types cost more per hour. The WebLogic image stays the same across every option; only the underlying instance differs. You add EC2 compute charges separately and bring your own WebLogic license. 24/7 support is included with all instance choices.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type with set vCPU and memory. The vendor recommends m5.large (2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM) or larger for production, with at least 4 GB RAM to start the server. You pick the type that matches your workload.
The hourly software rate meters running time only, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes. You restart to resume both compute and software billing when needed.
You bring your own WebLogic license. The hourly price covers the preconfigured, hardened image plus 24/7 support with a 24 hour response. EC2 compute charges bill separately from AWS. The Oracle WebLogic license is not part of any instance dimension.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Security update: OS packages updated to AlmaLinux 8.10/el8_10, remediating all flagged CVEs (NetworkManager CVE-2024-3661, bind, glibc, kernel, etc.) - 0 security advisories remain. Added rng-tools (rngd) to maintain entropy on the updated kernel so WebLogic Server starts reliably. Validated on a fresh boot: AdminServer reaches RUNNING, console + REST login confirmed. No application or configuration changes.
