Oracle WebLogic 12c on AWS - Production-Ready Application Server
Oracle WebLogic 12c is a robust and scalable Java EE application server designed for mission-critical enterprise workloads. This cloudimg AMI delivers a pre-configured, ready-to-deploy WebLogic environment on AWS, enabling teams to launch production-grade middleware infrastructure without manual installation and configuration.
Who This Is For
This AMI is built for middleware administrators, DevOps engineers, and Java architects at mid-to-large enterprises who need to:
- Migrate on-premises WebLogic workloads to AWS
- Deploy multi-tier Java EE applications with enterprise-grade reliability
- Stand up WebLogic clusters for development, testing, or production environments
- Run e-commerce backends, internal portals, or SOA integrations on a proven platform
Use Case: On-Premises WebLogic Migration to AWS
Organizations running WebLogic on-premises can use this AMI to accelerate their cloud migration. Launch the AMI on your chosen EC2 instance, configure your existing Oracle license (BYOL), deploy your application archives (EAR/WAR files) through the WebLogic admin console, and connect to your existing AWS databases and services. The pre-installed monitoring agents provide immediate visibility into application health without additional setup.
Pre-Installed AWS Tooling
Every cloudimg AMI ships with essential AWS tools already configured:
- AWS CLI v2 - Manage AWS resources directly from the instance
- AWS Systems Manager Agent - Enable remote management, patching, and automation without SSH
- Amazon CloudWatch Agent - Stream OS and application metrics to CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting
These tools eliminate manual agent installation and configuration, reducing initial setup time and ensuring your WebLogic instance is observable and manageable from day one.
Security and Hardening
- SSH key-based authentication only (password authentication disabled)
- Root login disabled by default
- Minimal open ports - only required service ports are exposed
- Regular patching schedule maintained by cloudimg
- OS-level firewall pre-configured with restrictive default rules
Buyers should configure AWS Security Groups to restrict access to WebLogic admin console (port 7001) and application ports to trusted IP ranges only.
Flexible Deployment Options
- Multiple Linux distributions available for selection at launch, providing compatibility with your existing operational standards
- Bring Your Own License (BYOL) - Use your existing Oracle WebLogic license to avoid duplicate licensing costs
- Multiple versions available - WebLogic 14c and other versions are also available through our AWS Marketplace listings
System Requirements
For production WebLogic workloads, we recommend instances with a minimum of 4 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM (e.g., m5.xlarge or larger). Development and testing environments can run on smaller instances (t3.large minimum). Ensure at least 50 GB of EBS storage is attached for the OS, WebLogic binaries, and application deployments.
