See AWS Free Tier for more details. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. Each dimension maps to one instance type, so pricing scales with the compute size you select. Smaller instances like t2.micro and t3.nano carry lower hourly rates, while larger memory, compute, GPU, storage, and bare-metal instances cost more. Your total depends on which instance you run and how many hours it stays active. There are no tiers or upfront commitments. The vendor bundles 24/7 support with the preconfigured WebLogic image across all instance choices.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit include for a chosen instance type?
Each hourly rate covers the preconfigured Oracle WebLogic 12c software running on one Amazon EC2 instance of the selected type. This includes the WebLogic Server, bundled Java Development Kit, sample domain, and 24/7 vendor support. You also pay separately for the underlying EC2 compute and any EBS storage.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my EC2 instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time on the chosen instance type. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. You may still pay AWS for attached EBS storage, including the dedicated /u01 volume holding the Oracle software, while the instance is stopped.
How does my bill change if I move to a larger instance type?
Each dimension maps to one instance type with its own hourly rate. Switching to a larger memory, compute, GPU, or bare-metal instance changes your rate to that instance's price. The change is not automatic; you select the instance type at launch. Running more instances multiplies the hourly charge accordingly.
