What do you like best about the product?
Great for hassle free deployments, easy to deploy, manage and deploy Kafka clusters. So, you can save hours and simplifying operations by using the Aiven.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks of advanced Kafka customization that are not available in Aiven and cost can be higher than a self-managed solutions, especially if your system expects large workload
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like i said, solve the complexity that you may encounter to deploy a Kafka cluster, the scaling and securing clusters. So, it's beneficial for businesses by saving time and focus more on building data driven services with high reliability

Reliable managed Kafka with minimal operational overhead

    Reviewed on Sep 18, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven makes managing Kafka incredibly easy, removing the complexity of setup, scaling, and monitoring. The UI and automation tools are intuitive, and the integration with multiple clouds is seamless. I especially like that upgrades and patches are handled automatically, which lets me focus on building applications instead of managing infrastructure.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the platform works very smoothly, the pricing can feel high compared to running Kafka manually, especially at scale. Also, some advanced configuration options are limited compared to a self-managed setup, which might be frustrating for teams that need very fine-grained control. Documentation is good but sometimes a bit complex, and I’d like to see more examples and best practices for complex use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aiven for Apache Kafka is helping us avoid the heavy lifting of managing and scaling Kafka clusters ourselves. Instead of worrying about cluster setup, broker configuration, or downtime during upgrades, we get a fully managed solution that just works. This has saved our team significant time and reduced operational complexity. We can now focus on building real-time data pipelines and streaming applications, knowing the infrastructure is reliable, secure, and always up to date. The multi-cloud support is also a huge benefit because it gives us flexibility and avoids vendor lockin.

Solid managed Kafka service with strong reliability at a cost

    Reviewed on Sep 16, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven for Kafka is very easy to set-up and getting started, however, it comes at quite a steep pricing. Don't want to worry about setting up and managing Kafka, then this is great. No direct Zookeeper access is available though, which in some scenarios could be a downside. Schema registry with Karapace is a big plus, which allows for compatibility with Confluent's registry.
However, for bootstrapping a Kafka project, I'd recommend starting with open source first, to build your project and only start using this for a production scenario.
What is nice, is that all the complex logic of Kafka regarding SASL and jaas config is abstracted away. It just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like mentioned before, using a managed service such as Aiven for Kafka is a trade-off between ease of use and customizability. You cannot tweak Zookeeper unfortunately.
Furthermore, web console often lags behind and is eventually consistent. The interaction speed with the cluster is slow and provisioning new resources in the cluster (i.e. topics, users, etc).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Messaging as a service, and since Kafka is a de facto standard, it is great to use a service such as Aiven. All maintenance, support are taken out of hands and as a software engineer I can focus on building a product instead of maintaining infra.

    Cluster System School Project

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It is a helpful tool that gave value on Project. As a conceptor of Distributed Sytem during my School project, Aiven for Apache Kafka provides dynamic and performed environement to give life of the whole infrastructure of the Distributed system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, it may lack rigidity and documentation. However, as far as you go deep into the available infrormation about Aiven, there are complex process but useful content about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance that is to be implemented into the system embeding Apache Kafka was the main solution I found to store data in the cloud while benefitting the mai purpose of Aiven.

Dedicated and Easy-to-Use Managed Kafka Service

    Reviewed on Sep 16, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I love how Aiven for Apache Kafka makes deployment and management so easy. The solution takes the pain of using Kafka clusters away, and I can just enjoy tapping into the data streams without worrying about infrastructure. Scaling is smooth, connectivity is simple, and the monitoring tools give me confidence in stability and performance. Access to customer support available 24/7 that is quick to respond is also a big plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside is that the cost can appear a bit high for small projects, especially when scaling clusters. The learning curve for newcomers without prior experience using Kafka concepts can be steep as well. In some cases, advanced customization options are limited compared to hosting Kafka fully on-premises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aiven for Apache Kafka helps us handle real-time data streaming without the burden of managing complex infrastructure. It solves the challenges of scalability, availability, and monitoring by providing a fully managed service. This has saved our team a lot of time and reduced operational overhead. We can integrate data pipelines more efficiently, improve system reliability, and focus on building features instead of maintaining servers.
