Know what the market is doing before, during, and after your comp cycle starts. CompXL Max delivers a pre-planning report with pay equity gaps, compression risks, and flight risk indicators automatically, and keeps real-time market data inside the planning workbook from day one through close.
CompXL Max is Salary.com's AI-powered compensation planning platform built for compensation administrators, HR leaders, total rewards teams, and CHROs who need market intelligence and planning execution in one place. It replaces the reactive, spreadsheet-driven planning cycle with an automated, insight-driven workflow that begins weeks before kickoff. Upload your employees, and CompXL Max automatically matches every role to benchmark jobs, surfaces pay-to-market gaps, compression risks, and flight risk indicators in a pre-planning report, and puts real-time job posting data directly inside the planning workbook. The result is a compensation cycle where every decision is faster and easier to defend.
Key Features
Automated Job Matching with AI Confidence Scoring: Automatically maps every role in the employee census to benchmark jobs. Confidence scoring flags uncertain matches for administrator review. Existing job matches are preserved and never overwritten.
Pre-Planning Insights Report: Generates a report showing pay-to-market alignment, compression, and equity risks across the employee census. Delivered in product and by email one week after the first data upload, then monthly.
Real-Time Data in the Planning Workbook: Adds a tab to the planning workbook with real-time job posting data for each employee.
Potential Flight Risk Indicator: Flags employees whose base salary falls below the market minimum. Administrators can review and override the flag. Flag status is saved until updated by an administrator.
AI Review Assistant: Pre-built prompts answer common cycle questions and return answers directly in the chat window.
Real-Time Market Insights Report: A monthly company-level market intelligence report delivered automatically by email and accessible in product. Shows hot jobs by demand, competitor hiring activity, and hiring salary trends tailored to your industry, location, and company size.
Automated Bonus Calculation: Calculates bonus awards automatically against configured plan rules, including target percentages, performance multipliers, funding gates, and proration logic, with full calculation documentation.
Multi-Level Approval Routing: Routes merit and bonus worksheets through configurable approval chains with full change history and timestamp documentation at every step.
Real-Time Payout Modeling: Models bonus payout scenarios under different performance and funding assumptions before the cycle runs, with immediate aggregate cost impact calculated across the eligible population.
Configurable Plan Rules: Defines funding gates, target percentages, performance modifier matrices, eligibility criteria, and proration rules, configured once and enforced automatically across the cycle.
Native HRIS Integration: Connects to UKG and ADP to synchronize participant and organizational data automatically.

This contract-based listing scales pricing by your company's employee count, measured in full-time equivalents (FTE). You pick the band that matches your workforce size. Four bands cover organizations with less than 250 employees, 250 to 500 employees, 500 to 1,000 employees, and more than 1,000 employees. Each band is a fixed unit purchase for the same compensation planning software. As your headcount grows into a higher band, you move to the matching tier. All bands give you the same product; only the employee-size range and price change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one FTE (full-time equivalent) for choosing my pricing band?
An FTE is a full-time employee in your workforce. You count your total employees, then pick the band matching that number. The four bands cover under 250, 250 to 500, 500 to 1,000, and more than 1,000 employees. Your headcount determines which single band you buy.
What happens to my price if my employee count grows into a higher band?
Pricing is set by which band your headcount falls into. If your workforce grows past your current band's range, you move to the band that matches the new size. The price changes to that band's rate. Only the employee-size range and price differ between bands.
Do all four bands include the same features, or do larger bands add capabilities?
All bands give you the same compensation planning software. That includes the planning workbook, automated job matching, real-time job posting data, pre-planning and post-planning insights, flight risk indicators, and an AI Review Assistant. Only the employee-size range and price change between bands, not the feature set.
