You pay by the hour for this hardened RHEL 8.9 image with a compliance agent. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance type you choose, not by feature or plan. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size across families like general purpose (m, t), compute (c), memory (r, x, u), storage (d, i), and accelerated computing (g, p, inf, trn). The software rate rises as instance capacity grows, from small shared-core sizes up to bare-metal and multi-terabyte configurations. You run only the instances you need and stop paying when you stop them. AWS infrastructure charges apply separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly software rate cover, and what am I billed for separately?
The hourly rate covers the hardened RHEL 8.9 image and its compliance agent, running on the EC2 instance type you pick. AWS charges for the underlying compute, storage, and network usage apply separately. You pay both on the same invoice.
Am I charged the software rate when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. When you stop an instance, the software charge stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate AWS charges, not the software rate.
If I run several instances at once, how is my software cost calculated?
Each running instance meters its own hourly software rate based on its instance type. Costs add together across all active instances. Larger instance types carry a higher hourly rate, so mixing sizes changes the total accordingly. You pay only for what runs.
