You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose during deployment. All dimensions bill per hour with no monthly commitment, and you can stop the stack at any time to end aMiSTACX charges. AWS hosting charges are billed separately by AWS. The instance families cover three groups: t2 and t3 for general use, m5 for balanced compute and memory, and c4 and c5 for compute-focused workloads. Within each family, price scales with size, from large up to the largest xlarge options. Larger sizes suit bigger catalogs or higher traffic.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what do I pay separately?
The hourly rate covers aMiSTACX software: the deployment stack, its Performance and Business Modules, and the A51 Monitoring and Control dashboard. AWS hosting for the EC2 instance is billed separately by AWS. You pay two separate charges — aMiSTACX per hour, plus your AWS infrastructure usage.
Am I charged when I stop the stack or leave the instance idle?
When you stop the stack, aMiSTACX charges end because billing is per hour of use. You can stop at any time with no monthly commitment. However, AWS may still charge for storage or other services tied to the stopped instance. Those AWS charges are separate from aMiSTACX.
How do I pick an instance size, and can I change it later?
Larger instance sizes suit bigger catalogs and higher traffic. As a guide, a t3.xlarge handles about 100 unique visitors per 15 minutes at moderate load. You choose the EC2 class during deployment from those listed. Database (RDS) classes are limited at deploy time but can be changed to any class afterward.

AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

This Magento build is almost excellent. After getting frustrated with another instance, I tried this one and was extremely pleased. The instructions are thorough and cover more than just Magento setup but also help with additional related setup topics that were nice to see. I did have one issue due to a syntax error in an ubuntu package resulting in db issues, but the fix was easy to find and easier to resolve. Aside from that one problem, I have had no issues at all with Magento once I completed the setup. It runs smooth and unlike some other builds there have been no errors, no redirect loops, none of the headaches that you worry about and just a well running server. Thanks for for rolling out a quality AIM!

Good stack, even better support

I was hesitant about going to a paid version of the Magento stack, especially since there are free ones out there. It is absolutely worth it. It's well designed, runs well and more importantly the tech support from the aMiSTACX team is superb. It is so helpful to have someone who really understands the ins and outs of Magento and can help when I inevitably do something to mess things up.
Well worth the extra expense!

This helped us get up and running in a short amount of time, and having Magento setup for multiple store-views, languages, and currencies is no easy task, yet this made everything very straight-forward.
Support was fantastic and very prompt and they offered a lot of various solutions for Magento scalability.

This is an out-of-the-box easy to use LAMP solution. We have deployed several of these in our development environment, and have been able to stand them up and configure them very easily! Might have to start using them in production!
