Adobe ColdFusion (2021/2023/2025 Release) on Hardened Windows
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance type, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. Smaller shared-core instances (like t3.medium or c7a.medium) bill at lower hourly rates, while larger instances (like r7a.4xlarge or m7a.4xlarge) cost more per hour. The instance families cover general-purpose (m-series, t-series), compute-optimized (c-series), and memory-optimized (r-series) needs. Software runs on a hardened Windows AMI, so your total cost combines this hourly software charge with standard AWS infrastructure fees. Pick the size that matches your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for these instance dimensions?
Each dimension bills per hour that the matching EC2 instance runs. One unit equals one instance-hour of the hardened Windows AMI at the size you select. The rate reflects the compute, memory, and instance family of that specific type, such as t3.medium or r7a.4xlarge.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes while the instance sits stopped. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software charge.
How do the software charge and AWS infrastructure fees combine on my bill?
Two charges apply at the same time and add together. The hourly software fee covers the hardened Windows ColdFusion AMI. Separate AWS fees cover the underlying compute, storage, and data transfer. Choosing a larger instance type raises both the software rate and the infrastructure cost.

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, connect to it using a Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) by right clicking the instance in the EC2 console and selecting Connect. Log in with '\Administrator' and your generated password. Once logged in, you can connect to the CF Admin by going to http://localhost:8500/CFIDE/administrator and logging in as username 'admin' with the EC2 Instance ID as the default password. Upon launch, it is recommended to immediately apply latest security updates, change the OS administrative credentials, and change the ColdFusion administrative credentials. The default web root is W:\wwwroot and ColdFusion is installed in C:\cf<version>cloud.
