What do you like best about the product?
I missed one key with the name of a former contractor who was active for six weeks. An old contractor's key was good for six weeks. I didn't realise until I was doing a security review and they asked me to tell them what all my credentials were, and I just forgot. This is great – the access control is in the config file, which I can check, and the diff has info about who changed what.
What do you dislike about the product?
Service accounts couldn't log on in the next cron run. I made a spreadsheet of access keys and who had them, and then I ran production using shared SSH keys.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had lunch that afternoon to honour the PAM order. I put the Duo module in front of the local password check, and both users got double prompts until I moved the Duo module out of the way of the local password check in the SSHD configuration file. A scoped bypass group has rectified that. The number of SSH keys on production hosts dropped from 312 to zero. The offboarding access removal was reduced from three days to around 10 minutes. It only took one afternoon, instead of two weeks, to do the annual credential audit.

What do you like best about the product?
Its simplicity paired with security. users get clean, one tap push notifications, while admins get instant, agentless device health checks and hassle free integrations across legacy VPNs, RDP, and cloud apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main pain points are pricing for advanced Zero Trust features, lack of full Identity Provider capabilities compared to Okta or Microsoft Entra ID, and. Additionally, push notifications can suffer network delivery delays.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stops account takeovers from stolen passwords and phishing. Blocks risky, out-of-date, or unmanaged devices from accessing company apps. Benifit includes quick one tap approvals with zero hassle.

What do you like best about the product?
Auditing user access would just mean regularly stretching and filing the spreadsheet exports from the systems with personnel records, hoping no user changed a password during the cycle. It's a risky business. First, there was this analyst who was missing for eight months. We didn't realize he had the right to access our platform because he had active credentials. It was only when an app vendor noticed him making requests to our platform that we found out. Duo plugged that hole.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our distributed finance team has had a bit of a rough start to onboarding over the past three weeks. When we pushed to older mobiles, some didn't work, which resulted in failed token registrations and our local help desk being overwhelmed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We won't compromise on the credit models. We've got user directories that come straight from Active Directory, and we can link them up with specific access rules for our teams. As well as supporting SAML and RADIUS endpoints for authentication, no custom connection scripts need to be maintained in the various internal banking interfaces.

Great push notifications with hassle-free security

What do you like best about the product?
The push notifications are hands down the best part. When logging into work tools or the von, I just tap "approve" on my phone screen instead of typing out annoying 6 digit codes every single time. It takes two seconds, the app never crashes, and setting it up with QR code on day one was totally painless.
What do you dislike about the product?
If my internet connection or mobile data is a bit down, the push notification won't pop up right away, and I have to open the app manually to grab an offline passcode instead. If I wanted to add my work account in new mobile no longer required to reach IT support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It protects our internal accounts, VPN, and cloud tools from unauthorized logins and stolen passwords. The biggest benefit for me is that it keeps our company data safe without making the login process annoying or slowing down my day, since verifying access only takes a single tap on my phone.

What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I dislike about Cisco Duo is that repeated authentication requests can sometimes interrupt workflow. Occasionally, login issues, delayed push notifications, or device connectivity problems can make the authentication process inconvenient. Improving notification speed and simplifying device management would make the overall experience even better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cisco Duo helps solve security risks associated with unauthorized access, stolen passwords, and compromised user accounts by providing multi-factor authentication (MFA). It adds an extra layer of protection to company applications and systems. This benefits me by making logins more secure, reducing the risk of phishing-related account breaches, and allowing me to access work resources confidently while maintaining a smooth login experience.
