Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS 7 image, billed only while an instance runs. Each dimension maps to a specific Amazon EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the instance you select. Smaller shared-core types like t2 and t3 sit at one end, while large compute, memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal types scale up from there. The hourly software charge is separate from standard AWS infrastructure fees. You can run multiple instances or change types as needs change, since each type carries its own hourly rate.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the hardened CentOS 7 software image running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. The instance you pick sets the CPU, memory, and storage you receive. The software charge is billed per hour the instance runs, separate from AWS infrastructure fees.
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Stopped instances may still incur standard AWS storage charges for attached volumes, but those are separate from this software rate.
Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. When you change types, billing follows the new type's rate for the hours it runs. You can also run several instances at once, with each billed separately at its own hourly rate.
