Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS 7 image, with no upfront commitment. Pricing is usage-based, so you are billed only for the hours each instance runs. The many options are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type you choose at launch, spanning general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated computing families. The hourly software rate scales with the size and capability of the instance you select. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. You can run multiple instance types at once, each billed separately for its own hours.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit is one hour that a single EC2 instance runs this image. Each instance you launch meters its own running hours separately. The rate matches the instance type you selected at launch, such as m5.large or c6i.xlarge. You choose the instance type when you start the instance.
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue software charges for those idle hours. Charges resume when the instance runs again. Note that underlying AWS storage or other AWS resource fees may still apply while an instance is stopped.
Each instance bills independently for its own running hours at its own instance-type rate. Your total is the sum across all running instances. There is no combined or blended rate. Larger instance types carry higher hourly rates, so the mix of sizes and their runtime drives your total.
