You pay by the hour for this hardened CentOS 9 image, billed per running instance. Pricing is not one flat rate. Instead, each rate is tied to the specific EC2 instance type you launch, listed in the table. Rates scale with the compute size and family you choose, from small general-purpose types up to large memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal options. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. You control your cost by selecting the instance type that fits your workload. Charges apply only while instances run, on top of standard AWS infrastructure fees.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get a CentOS 9 operating system image pre-configured with security hardening and the latest updates. It runs on the EC2 instance type you select. The compute resources (CPU, memory, storage) come from that instance type, not the image itself.
The hourly software rate applies only while an instance runs. Stopped or paused instances do not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay standard AWS fees for attached storage, such as EBS volumes, while the instance is stopped.
Each running instance bills separately at the hourly rate for its instance type. Total software cost is the sum across all running instances. Running two different instance types means two different hourly rates apply at the same time, both on the same invoice.
