Awesome

This AMI worked well straight from purchase. No real setup required at all. Highly recommend. We used it to setup a LAMP server and it worked perfectly.

Nice and Easy

This is a very quick and easy way to get a LAMP server up and running. The speed is blistering fast. If you know your way around Ubuntu Server, there really is not a more convenient way to go.

Well Done!

This is the very nice image for the standard LAMP implementation Apache/MySQL/PHP with phpmyadmin as well as Postfix mail server with ClamAv, Spamassassin (mail-stack-delivery package) and RoundCube web mail.

But don’t expect ClamAV to work with AWS t1.micro instance, there is not enough RAM for it. The everything else works perfect even with micro instance.

I like my new Cloud Desktop

  • July 11, 2013

I am already using a lot of cloud services and a big part of my Documents are accessible via Google Services and Dropbox. I was wondering if a fast and reliable Desktop in the cloud would be helpful. The installation of the system itself and the ubuntu desktop was fast and clean. Accessing the Desktop via nomachine client from a Linux PC was easy with the 4.0 beta-version of nomachine-player. From Windows PCs I have to use the 3.5 client because there is no built-in ssh client on Windows. No experience from Mac yet.
I installed cairo-dock and have a problem with the graphics, but that is not a big issue.

The perfect Ubuntu server image

This is the official image from Canonical. This is stable and LTS support. The right choice for real long term server provisionning.

It just works

It just works - believe it or not. It is the pure Ubuntu, optimized for cloud. Best pick when you want to deploy something on AWS.
