Why you don't provide the latest versions of OpenVPN?
I find just version 2.8.5.
There are a lot of security issues that resolved in the latest versions.

Running 'sudo apt upgrade openvpn-as' brings it up-to-date to latest version pretty easily. So consider the image a starting point that's easily updated. But 2.11.3 is now out so your concern has been addressed, at least for now. See also this page for detailed instructions on updating - would certainly recommend to stay on top of updates for the same reason you mentioned: https://openvpn.net/vpn-server-resources/keeping-openvpn-access-server-updated/
