What do you like best about the product?
OpenVPN, understood both as the set of protocols and as the cross-platform client/server application available for free, deserves the utmost success in the world of networking and security. The era of IKE configurations, authentications through complex chains of certificates, the era of long NAT and firewall settings and rules has ended thanks to OpenVPN, which in a Linux environment has allowed me to set up several site-to-site VPN servers for encrypted communication between some VoIP endpoints with support for OVPN configuration files. These files greatly simplify the life of the SecOps team and network and system administrators who no longer have to spend entire days, weeks, or months manually configuring the correct VPN parameters, client by client. I hope it will be supported by default by more and more manufacturers of PCs, routers, firewalls, phones, and IoT devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Linux client should be reviewed because, despite GTK or the graphics engine being installed, it has no option to be run in GUI mode but only from the command line, which makes it much more difficult for less experienced users who use Linux solely for security and stability purposes, due to their lack of familiarity with the command line.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have created about 18 site-to-site VPNs between Azure and AWS, my HQ and AWS, my HQ and Azure, and my HQ towards the HQs of other clients who have chosen us for the provision of important and/or business-critical services that therefore require total privacy and confidentiality of the data transiting to the WAN or to and from our headquarters. Time saved: about 4 hours per VPN server, approximately 80 hours in total.
Crazy and high-performing protocol but client absolutely needs to be reviewed, both on Windows and Linux
What do you like best about the product?
OpenVPN server is a high-performance and highly secure stack that is constantly updated to deploy various types of VPNs with full control and management of all available security options to pass only the configuration files to the end users. What needs to be reviewed as soon as possible is the Windows client and the Linux shell, which lack any graphic design, lack clarity on the available security options, and are not very secure in terms of managing saved sessions. Until they are updated, OpenVPN will be half crippled and half a marathon runner.
What do you dislike about the product?
As I have already said, the clients need to be completely revised because they do not allow easy identification of the options to choose, and considering that they often end up in the hands of end users on PCs or laptops who only need to connect without having IT and networking knowledge, it is necessary to make the GUIs much more user-friendly and less complex, as well as more secure for people who may not clearly understand what type of files and sessions they are operating with, given that often behind a VPN server runs the backbone and servers of an entire organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provide and obtain access to Linux resources, primarily Load balancers and related Ubuntu Server nodes, in a secure manner (clients always demand higher and at the same time reliable security standards, especially after the VORACLE bug that led to the exploitation of thousands of VPN servers), performant and fast through tuning that allows processing VPN packets via Hardware on custom firewall appliances like pfSense or similar.

What do you like best about the product?
Because of using the openVpn, I am able to remotely access our company server from anywhere in the world. Since I have a primarily administrative job, but also do a bit of traveling, this has allowed me to stay connected. I also recently had to move out of state for family, but was able to keep my job since I had the access to files..
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes miss updates and have to connect with a tech team to help fix that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This has allowed multiple staff to work from home (during acclimate weather) or on the road when needed. So nothing gets missed or delayed due to other circumstances. In my line of work, that's pretty important for our clients.

We're hiding our Cloud Architecture from public. Was able to remove public IP addresses from our virtual machines in the cloud.
OpenVPN - My favorite VPN protocol
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set up point-to-point tunnels from other OpenVPN routers to other OpenVPN routers, cross-platform compatibility with apples, windows, androids and Linux devices, lots of assistance and GUI is very easy for window users to use as long as they can remember to open it in the correct corner of the tray and click connect first before attempting to open other network resources such as remote desk.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is easy without any actual use in addition to choosing a server and turning it on. Would you like to see a bandwidth monitor, server CPU use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was positive because it met the demands for which it was intended, is effective and of quality, and I suggest it because it is a helpful instrument in terms of the safety of private and business data.

I recommend using OpenVPN on the fact that it is a solution available for free on different platforms.

OpenVPN is a completely reliable software, I can make VPN connections in a simple and easy way. In addition, it is very profitable, it is very economical compared to other vpn solutions. I have used OpenVPN in our company and the result is always positive, the quality of security is very high and provides stability in all its connections. I can use OpenVPN even on my mobile device, that way I have access to the corporate network from any of my electronic devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like its interface very much, since it is very simple. I wish it was a little more intuitive. The update process is very poor, it is difficult to determine the name of the version to use with wget when updates are available. Everything else is excellent and works very well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OpenVPN offers us access to most electronic devices, from laptops to phones, that's why we have access to our network no matter what electronic device we are using. We use OpenVPN to block unauthorized access to the company's database. Also, we can now access blocked websites in our country. In addition, it keeps our data and operations online completely safe.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The cost of OpenVPN is quite cheap, I recommend it to any company that has security problems. It also has a free license that allows you to connect to 2 devices at the same time.
Great open source software
What do you like best about the product?
OpenVPN is an easy software with open source software, which allows you to create encrypted virtual tunnels for secure communication and data transfer. This allows me to easily, quickly and securely connect to their work and home network. It has useful application for Android, tailored to the needs of the user or administrator.
What do you dislike about the product?
People who are not ready, it's a little hard to understand why I have to explain the use of the new employees.

This allows me to remotely access my work network, to control access to the data of the employee and to protect clients' data.

I have never seen such advanced services like OpenVPN offers.

OpenVPN allows you to surf the internet as if you were located at a specific geographical point, allowing you to enjoy the freedoms offered by this place. A particularity of OpenVPN is that it offers its service to companies so that its workers can work as if they were in the preferred site of this company. It is a service with an affordable price for anyone who wants to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, OpenVPN has sudden disconnections, which, in many cases, suddenly expels its users from the website they are working on. Sometimes I have had to test websites that can only be opened by residents of the UK, and when disconnecting OpenVPN I have been expelled from them, interrupting my work and sometimes preventing me from re-entering the site. It was these disconnections for no apparent reason that made us switch to Open VPN for Amazon Web Services, the latter offers a VPS service that is much more stable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the time, OpenVPN helped us to perform tests and any other kind of work on web pages that required an IP address that did not belong to the United States. However, due to its multiple disconnections we had to replace this with Amazon Web Services.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend that anyone who wants to use OpenVPN is to prepare to experience occasional disconnections from the service which could interfere with their work. If you don't mind this detail then this VPN is for you.

It's easy to install and to use. Setup is a hassle though

To setup process was cumbersome. A lot of trial and error to make it work, but once setup it works like a charm.

Works now with version 2.7.4. Easy setup from instructions. Price could be better not sure if I will keep after free tier is over.
