Worth every penny
I have been a Microsoft developer more then ten years. I cannot find anything negative to say about this software. The amount of development time saved will more then pay for the cost of this product. Here are some ways Matillion has saved me boat loads of development time:
The sample data feature is one of the most valuable tools for me because it confirms that the data is being manipulated as expected. If you add a calculation component you can use the sample data feature that actually displays a preview using your real data. The sample data feature allows me to develop my data flow and run my developer testing at the same time!
Matillion has saved me development time loading data into RedShift. No need to worry about manually loading your data into S3 first and then pushing the data into Redshift. In fewer than five minutes you can setup a connection and suck data into a RedShift table.
Lastly, if you have ever worked with SSIS then you know the pain of debugging SSIS packages. Matillion takes away the pain. When you execute a flow the details of each component are logged in order making it quick an easy to identify where the execution failed.
I discovered Matillion at the AWS summit in NY where I met Joe Steadman and it didn't take long to realize that Matillion had something special. Joe Steadman and the staff at Matillion are really a great group of people. Ian Funnell has been outstanding supporting Matillion and answering my questions.
