By far the worst user experience product ever

I generally don't write reviews on AWS marketplace items, but I'm compelled to write here.

Don't waste your or your companies dollars on this, unless you sure you want Tableau for your use case or for your company.

To start with:
1. You need Tableau Desktop to publish workbooks to the server; for beginners they could at least mention this in the server page, they give an option of creating a workbook in the webpage, then you need to scratch your head to figure out how to connect data sources and make charts. They don't even mention this on the server page that you need to install Tableau desktop.

2. You can't update Tableau server within this AMI! And Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server need to be on same version if you want to publish your data sources. So how to update your server? You need to create new AMI and destroy the old one after painfully migrating you backups from one machine to another. Claps for the user experience!

3. They let you create 'Schedule' from the WebUI but again you need to scratch your head on how to create Tasks and refresh your dashboards. To create Tasks you need to head back to your Desktop again.

4. No support for guest users to view embedded charts. Say you created nice charts and want to embed in your intra company website to show to your colleagues, guess what you can't do with this AMI. For each and every user who wants to see (yes, just viewing) your charts, they need to login to the server with credentials.

To conclude, if you are looking for simple and straightforward solutions where you want to hook your database, create nice charts and embed in internal websites so your colleagues or other teams can see it, Tableau is not the best option and unnecessarily over complicated.

I'm scouting other applications which fits my use case and will update here after completing a PoC.
