Secure remote access has simplified file sharing and boosted collaboration across our teams

  • February 25, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

FileCloud is used by my organization as a central location to store all of our company shared documents as well as our personal work documents. It serves as a cloud storage solution so we can access our company files from anywhere as long as we are connected to the internet.

In my daily work, FileCloud allows my company to host everything on their own servers and have full administrative access to everything they need. If you don't have someone to manage a server or you don't need to have granular admin access, FileCloud would not be appropriate for your usage.

Recently, we implemented FileCloud to host our data securely using HTTPS instead of replacing our data on a third-party cloud solution or using VPN technologies. Our whole organization is now using it to access the data on our file servers.

With many of our staff members working remotely and on the move, this solution helps our staff members access their data on our secured central servers without having to use VPN technologies.

What is most valuable?

FileCloud offers several best features including a web GUI that is easy to use, simple administration, and a very intuitive mobile app. The platform provides good access to internal files and file server data from anywhere with an internet connection, the ability to send emails with expiration dates, password links, and access control, the ability to send attachments that exceed email limits for downloading, and seamless integration with NTFS and Active Directory.

I also appreciate the integration plugin for Outlook and Office applications.

FileCloud has positively impacted our organization by allowing us to share files more easily and securely, manage our cloud shares as we see fit, and enable remote collaboration because we can access data anywhere with an internet connection. It has helped our staff members be more productive in accessing the data they need at any time from anywhere in the world.

Since using FileCloud, we have saved approximately 40% of the time it previously took to access data because we can retrieve information at any time with an internet connection. Remote collaboration has increased between 40% to 55%.

FileCloud has helped our staff members be more productive in accessing the data they need at any time from anywhere in the world, making collaboration much easier. Additionally, the security of our data has greatly improved, and we have saved significant time because we can access our data at any time as long as we have an internet connection.

What needs improvement?

FileCloud can be improved by providing easier access to set up drive mount on a Mac without the use of other applications like Fuse. Updates need to be more apparent to FileCloud drive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using FileCloud for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

FileCloud is stable, as I have not experienced any crashing or downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

FileCloud's scalability is very good because it can handle any size of organization.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for FileCloud is very proactive and responsive 24/7.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used OneDrive.

I switched from OneDrive to FileCloud because FileCloud has a significant advantage over all the cloud products I have used, such as OneDrive, Dropbox, and Box. FileCloud allows you to host everything on your own server, so you don't have to rely on Microsoft or any other company to maintain the servers and hope that they don't have large issues that prevent access to your files. As long as you can access your server, you can get into your files easily.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price can be a little higher for smaller organizations, but for medium to large enterprises, the price is very cost-effective and affordable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing FileCloud, I evaluated Dropbox as another option.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using FileCloud is that it is well-suited for companies that want to utilize a cloud storage system but not use products such as Box or OneDrive. FileCloud allows the company to host everything on their own servers and have full administrative access to everything they need.

My additional thoughts about FileCloud are that it is a perfect tool to access your files at any time, especially through the mobile app where it will promote collaboration and easy use and management of files.

I rated this product an 8 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Efficient remote file access with robust security features and excellent support

  • October 22, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case for FileCloud is when the customer needs to migrate from a conventional file server, like Windows file sharing, which is only accessible within the office network. Due to the shift to remote work because of COVID-19, more people are working remotely, and companies are applying remote working, necessitating access to the file server even when not physically at the office.

FileCloud enables this remote access without the need for a VPN, allowing users to open the FileCloud application from their endpoint or access the user portal to perform activities such as downloading or sharing files.

How has it helped my organization?

In my experience, implementing FileCloud has enabled us to accommodate the needs of remote working seamlessly.

Employees can access and share files without physically visiting the office, providing flexibility and efficiency in operations.

What is most valuable?

The granularity for the audit log in FileCloud is extremely valuable. It offers administrators visibility into file activities, such as which user accessed or downloaded specific files, allowing us to audit environment activity effectively.

Furthermore, FileCloud includes encryption and a heuristic engine to prevent ransomware uploads and a DLP feature which separates trip main points from a logical perspective.

What needs improvement?

I noticed a feature in competitors that requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for uploading and downloading files in the share folder, which adds an extra security layer. I haven't seen this implemented on FileCloud, and it would add a valuable advantage for security.

Additionally, currently, FileCloud's compatibility for Linux implementation is limited to only Ubuntu or Red Hat Enterprise Server. Expanding compatibility to other Linux distributions could be beneficial for users.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with FileCloud, which is similar to my experience with EPP.

How are customer service and support?

FileCloud's technical support is excellent. They are capable of resolving platform issues efficiently and follow up to ensure issues are resolved, which is one of their best aspects of SLA adherence. I would rate them a nine for any issue.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have also implemented EPP alongside FileCloud.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In some cases, we lose clients to competitors due to pricing, although most wins are based on features, not pricing. Our features are highly suitable to the user platform.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Competitors provide some features like advanced user authentication; however, FileCloud features remain suitable for our user platforms.

What other advice do I have?

FileCloud is suitable for all types of industries, including government, financial services, and media. It's efficient for exchanging large files and can replace legacy file server technologies.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.
